Thanks for the well wishes. I know it's sappy how everyone says "she was a special lady" about their own special person but to each of us, it's true. The family discussions over the past few days has brought out those memories. She has been battling cancer for several years and although we all knew it was coming, watching the pain and suffering over the past month has been way harder than I ever expected. And, watching my dad suffer has been gut wrenching.

We all go through it and I feel for anyone when it happens.

Well we closed this chapter in our lives today. We buried Mom with my brother on one side of my dad and me on the other. My brother and I wanted to pay one last tribute to mom so he and I, along with my two son in laws and his son and son in law chose to be mom's pall bearers. It's the least we could do.

God Bless you Mom. We'll see you in Heaven.

Jim

i know i posted in this thread before. but, Jim, before today i never knew what it felt like to loose somebody close. really don't know my mom and the relationship with my dad is more like a close friend kinda thing. my oldest brother passed in my early teens but didn't know him too well either.

i know now and am truly sorry for your loss.

another lesson that damn dog taught me.

Sorry to hear that she's gone. At least it sounds like she had a long happy life and thats what really counts. I hope she died in her sleep at least and painlessly. Cancer is a bitch and unfortunately it doesn't care how old or young a person is. Both my grandparents are battling cancers of different types. I'm not looking forward to those phone calls.

Don't wait for the phone calls. Spend as much time with them as you can. I know my mom was thrilled when the grandchildren and great grandchildren were there. Of all the years my dog would go over there,he was never allowed throughout the house, and stayed out of the living room. The last month she was alive, she enjoyed him and actually asked for him to stay in the living room with her.

You can't get the time back. My mom kept saying things to my daughters like, "one of these days when I am feeling better, I want to go through some of my things with you kids". Well, she never did.

Go see your grandparents. You will have plenty of time to do your own personal stuff later. They won't.
