From what I have heard Syria is known to be one of the largest producers of chemicals for weapons in the middle east.
The idea is to send a few missiles to their chemical production plants.

Then simply ignore the repercussions that Russia and China will dish out?

Yeah, because this country has such a stellar record of surgically hitting the intended targets with missiles and drone strikes...

Honestly I don't really give a shit if we wipe Syria, or any other middle eastern country for that matter, right off the map.

The big problem, or rather the big picture, is that NO ONE besides the rifle droppers have our back on this shit and even more so it will directly piss off China and Russia. AAAAAND beyond that Russia has already said it will do what it needs to do to protect Syria.

We are basically a broke dick, poor ass, glorified 3rd world country that can barely make it's debt payments. We are stretched waaay to thin from years of military cuts, 12 years of war, and countless different talking heads just lining their pockets at the cost of the tax payer. I honestly don't think we can even afford to fight a war with Russia, assuming it doesn't just escalate right to nuclear holocaust. Shit, how the fukc are we even going to pay for it? China is going to say, "No mo monies fo you" as soon as we start down the road to epic fuckation with Russia.

Bingo.

We can't even keep the lights on without China loaning us the money. How the fukc are we going to do ANYTHING if China decides to cut us off and close us out?

You guys ever think about what would happen if the UN, Russia, China and the rest of them imposed sanctions on us?

Default Syria = WWIII?

I am no financial whiz but with us possibly going to war would it be smart to pull my 401k out of the stock market and put it in guaranteed interest until this all blows over? I really don't want take another huge hit on it.

Might be smarter to invest it in firearms and ammunition.

Nope didn't vote for barry.
I know that Russia and China are pissed that barry even suggested to hit Syria. IMO Syria is not the bad guys here, I think it just might be the rebels/al-quada and barry did say he would back the muslims if it came down to it.
It looks like we are being dragged into something we have no business getting into.

Just curious where you are going to put your money?

Bonds (government)
Commodities (have you seen the price drop on gold lately)
Cash/money market (yep, banks and securities can be demolished in a severe financial depression too)

I have no problem finding what I need.

Multi-purpose weapons that cover two legged predators and double as great hunting tools are prime. M1 Garand is a perfect example.

I realize that if the country melts down you may be completely fucked. I just want to do what I can do to protect my assets.

History will show:

In 2013 President Barry

Placed sanctions on US citizens ammunition supplies and greater restrictions on purchasing firearms

Then launched an attack that polarized the world powers

Followed by a period of severe financial depression where an emphasis was placed on securing resources and manufacturing military equipment

The unemployed workforce was glad to have jobs again and offered full support of Barry

After years of turmoil, Barry was re-elected to a third term and eventually called for a vote of no confidence of the UN

He then took command of the UN and became the first World Leader

One could buy corporate paper and corporate bonds if he has enough to invest but, as far as bonds go, they are considerably less safe than U.S. bonds (and many municipal bonds).

Besides, if you are in a 401k and you pull out before it's time, your penalties/taxes could eat up more than what you might earn in your lower, but more safe, interest through your alternative investments.

If one is really concerned about the U.S. economy and is invested in a 401k, they may be better off in redirecting future contributions towards emerging markets like Brazil, Poland, Slovenia, etc. if at least for a bit of piece of mind (and if your 401k allows such investments)

You can see if you can convert your 401K to a traditional IRA (contact Principal Investments or Fidelity investments, etc). Then you have many more options for allocations without having to pay any penalties or taxes.

I am not talking about pulling out of my 401k, I am talking about moving my funds from the stock market to the guaranteed interest option. If all this blows over I would move it back to the stock market.
