Default Syria = WWIII?

I'm thinking the threats of what kind of international fall out this whole Syria deal is going to bring are far greater than the media is letting the general public believe.

What are your honest feelings that this is going to lead us to WWIII?

From what I know France is the only country that supports what our government is doing. The UN says that what our government wants to do is illegal. Both Russia and China are now strongly against our government's potential actions. Iran is just prime for an excuse to level Israel.

I don't know how far it will really go, but I'm pretty sure this won't just pass without incident. I think at the very least we are looking at this generation's Cuban Missile Crisis.

Thoughts?

Spark notes on what is going on with this whole Syria thing? I see it on the news, but haven't had time to check it out.

i'd say chances are pretty good i could lead to some major shit. WWIII might be pushing it but pissing off Russia does worry me quite a bit.

From what I can tell is it's like ever other conflict in the middle east. A worse extremist has risen to power over the other extremists, is doing bad things to his people, and our government feels the need to police them through airstrikes.

That's a pretty simplistic summary, but the nearest I can figure is its a, "Same shit, different country" kinda deal.

Drop a hydrogen bomb on Syria. Any country that doesn't like that, drop one on them too.

It seems though the US has to step in and "police" everything that goes on. I understand trying to keep tensions low and not make anybody upset, but some things we just shouldn't get involved with.

Is this connected to what happened in Egypt awhile ago by chance?

Now, isn't Syria supposed to be one of our allies in the Middle East? And we are going to bomb them? I mean, the most I've been able to get from what little news I see is that Syria *may* have used chemical weapons on their own people, so we are going to teach them a lesson by dropping bombs on them?

I just can't see anything good coming from this.

we dont have "wars" anymore, we have lets send our troops to places they dont belong to "help" people who hate us. After we help them regain control after 10 years or so then they start flying planes into our buildings or hiding bombs up their asses and getting on planes. We really need to mind our business. rant over

I'd like to think that too. But I kinda wonder if that's the same thing our ancestors thought during the brewing of WWI and WWII.

I think sometimes we sit back and just assume it can't happen again because it hasn't in 70 years or that somehow our society now is better at communicating and working things out.

Growing up I heard more than once that there will never be another world war because with the advent of the nuclear bomb. With the threat of it escalating to that point and causing complete annihilation of everything is what is keeping everyone at bay. But now you throw the new factor of these extremists Muslims in that have zero value in their mortal lives...

I don't think the general public is nearly concerned about this as they should be. I think most of us just think of this as another Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Libya, Somalia, etc... But it's not. In all of those others our government at least had some allies on the plan, this time our government is really bucking against the grain.

Syria is not an annex of the USA. If their people don't like their dictator then they should leave. We should not spend and of our resources on their issues. Last time we eradicated an "evil" dictator, we got a regime that hates us even more.

I think getting involved with Syria is a bad idea. its a civil war over there and it has nothing to do with us. We need to stop sticking our nose in everyones business! Our governent needs to learn to mow their own grass before they mow their neighbors. we have enough issues here that need policing.

This kind of pisses me off. Have they done anything to enforce the illegality of killing innocent children by chemical attacks? No.

I honestly don't think we'll ever have another world war in the same manner that we think of WWI and WW2. I just hope someone does something to punish those bastards as soon as possible.

I don't think so. I've thought mostly of late Syria has been the hotbed for terrorism and one of the biggest problems over there for us outside of Iraq, Iran, etc...

Shouldn't we just turn the other cheek? J/k...

As much as I think the UN is an absolute farce. I think that when they get involved with things they try to do the whole due process and follow the book approach where as when we get involved we like to start dealing out vigilante justice based on what we feel is right.

I keep using the term "we" when talking about stuff in this country. I really need to do that. I don't agree with 99% of the stuff out government does anymore so I think using the term "we" isn't right...

Same type of shit as Egypt. Hardcore muslims want to oust the not so muslim dictator so they can set up a bastion of muslim law in the middle east. They are pissed off about the people of Egypt pushing back against that bull shit and kicking them out of power so they are trying for Syria.

Putin has been talking to us, the American People, for a while now trying to wake us up to how corrupt and out of control OUR federal government is. The RUSSIAN PRESIDENT is more concerned about us than our own officials. That speaks VOLUMES about what's really going on.

This is also why China, Russia and everyone else is against us intervening on behalf of the rebels in Syria. They're jihadists and muslim extremists. Most of the rebels are affiliated with al Qaeda. Our government wants to help the same people, who killed thousands upon thousands of Americans since 2001 and destroyed our prosperity with two wars and trillions in unfunded spending, set up a major base of operations.

The chemical weapons didn't come out until Obama made his "Red Line" speech. This is no coincidence. It's my firm belief that the rebels used those weapons against their own people and blamed Assad for it knowing that it was the most likely thing to get the U.S. involved on their side. Pure manipulation tactic. They have been caught over and over and over again throughout this whole conflict passing off fake footage of "casualties" to gain sympathy from the international community.

Russia and China said hell no and have moved assets into the region to counter the U.S. We have absolutely no business spending money and risking American lives on this conflict... especially when the outcome would be an entire country becoming the new headquarters of al Qaeda. Russia and the rest of their allies are refusing to allow that to happen. This is already a proxy war between the U.S. and them. They've been supplying Assad with weapons, munitions and aid since the beginning and we have been funneling the same to the rebels.

There is a very real possibility that this could spark a real war between all of the major world powers. The fact is... the only people who want this are our enemies and the spineless pieces of shit that have control of our government. We don't want it. The world doesn't want it. Our voices have been completely ignored here and will continue to be and it could lead to our downfall. I wish this was an exaggeration. I really do... but it isn't.
