I want to strangle the thesis department at kettering. I am going on 5 months from first submission for my degree. They have misplaced it at least twice, and took 3 months to get the first review back to me.

Now they are trying to tell me I didn't fix any of it.

They have all your money, they no longer give a shit about you.

I can not stand our higher education institutions. I am currently trying to finish my degree and it is extremely frustrating.

I think employers look for people with degrees because they have proven they can put up with years of bullshit - it has nothing to do with what is "learned" at college.

She sent me a pdf with a bunch of new errors with the document that were not listed prior, saying that they are old things I didn't do previously.

From personal experience, getting shitty with them and pointing out that "if the errors were caught the first time, they wouldn't need to review it again" will only delay things more. My philosophy, be nice, do what they say, never go back to the shithole that is Flint ever again if possible.

Once you've graduated, send their "Donation letters" back with a note saying that they'd save a lot of money by sending e-mails instead of letters when begging for money when they've sustained a x% tuition increase for 10+ yrs while watering down the graduation requirements and lowering the acceptance standards. That one will get a response letter from someone "concerned" with the view of the quality of education coming out of the school.

I'm just being an irritable bastard. Seems to be working for the time being, I already got my thesis back from them and fixed the problems they said "I didn't fix" even though they weren't on the original review (I checked).

A lot of my alumni friends have done this already with the donation thing. I haven't been called yet or sent any letters because they won't even give me the damn degree

I am not giving one damn cent to that school. I'm just happy I left with 60k in student loans to some friends being well over 100k when they graduated.

If I give any money to Flint, it will be to my fraternity.

Yeah, they now have a fixed tuition. Whatever the price is when you start is the price you end with. They have also gotten rid of Thesis Fees. (I am sure they just spread that out over the 5 years).

They were actually really helpful with my thesis. Had it submitted to the and had the final approved in about a month. My Co-op employer had it longer then Kettering did. I guess it all depends on who you got for your thesis adviser.

You should look at their expected cost of living. Last time I looked, I think they said about $45k a year, and expected the parents to swing about $20k.

None of this takes into account the typical Kettering scholarships though.

I do not see how colleges and universities can continue with this rate of inflation. All universities and colleges should have federal monopoly and racketeering charges levied against them!

There needs to be a shift to emphasize trade schools. You can make a good living doing trade work. If society shifted some emphasis on trade schools and colleges were losing enrollment to trade schools, colleges would get a reality check really quick.

If the figures posted about Kettering tuition are accurate, that is disgusting.

I am currently in IT and am obtaining my degree in IT. After taking IT related classes, I see how unprepared this would leave a typical student who didn't have experience in the field. Someone entering the workforce would be grossly unprepared.

But alas, I want that piece of paper.

They are, but you need to add in their other fees, so it typically adds up to a straight Bill from Kettering over 30000

That is before having a place to stay, food, books, supplies, insurance, and other stuff.

It's almost every college. Look at starting wages over that same time span and the real travesty really stands out.
