I just read this entire thread and I figured ill post up!!

First I want to say good job to all you guys and gals dropping weight!!!

Secondly I too have been working hard at weight loss!!

In February after my breakup I realized I weighed the most I ever have, I have several health issues and being over weight wasn't making them any better. I started to alter my eating habits and work out regulary, drink more water and sleep more.


While progress has been slow going its going none the less as of two weeks ago I'm down 40lbs, while I still want to lose alot more I'm happier with myself than I've been in a very long time. The success I've had so far with weight loss has even driven me to be healthier in other ways, I've cut nearly all caffiene out of my diet and I am now working hard at quitting smoking!!


Keep it up everyone its amazing what you can do if you set your mind to it!!

Great Work all.


I should also state, that after losing the weight my sleep apnea is now gone. Not verified by a doctor, but all symptoms are gone, snoring is gone, can sleep without cpap machine and still function the next day, which i couldn't before.

My loss has slowed down but still going. I believe I have started to build some muscle though so that may be why the loss has slowed down.


I had a good moment a few days ago, working with some folks I haven't worked with since December, they didn't recognize me at all when they first saw me. Was a good feeling.

I haven't lost any more weight in the last couple months (gained a little actually) but I am down to a 36" waist. I also can now run the two mile warm up for my cross fitness training with out going into a fetal position while sucking wind.

Sometimes I think clothing fit is a much better indicator of health/fatness than weight or BMI is.

I think I posted once way back at the start of the thread but always enjoy reading through the new posts even if I don't contribute.

I have a relatively "athletic" build but have had a gut and love handles for the past decade or so.

In October I am planning on running the Marine Corps Marathon in DC. This will be my 6th full marathon and unlike all my others, I decided to actually follow a training plan for this one. I have an average run time of about 4 hours over all of my other marathons but am aiming to run this one in 3:30.

I've been consistently going to the gym a few times a week for weights and spinning since about 2003 and over the past couple of years I've been running probably between 20-30 miles a week, weather permitting. Well, since the start of April I've been running an average of 40 miles a week (including a few weeks where I've broken 60 miles) and am already closing in on 1,100 miles for the year. These days I am out running 5 days a week, rain or shine.

I've lost about 12 pounds, but more impressively (to myself anyway) I've lost about 2" off of my waistline. I took some pants and a couple of sport coats to the tailor last week and have a pile more to take back to get taken in when I pick those up.

It's gotten to the point that I had to breakout what most would probably call "skinny jeans" because all of my other denim options were just too baggy in the butt and the waist.

(Cutting out my twice daily frappuccinos probably didn't hurt in the weight-loss either.)

9 lbs last 2 weeks. Included alot of beer over the past weekend. Goal of 45lbs. Strictly diet so far.

Holy crap. You must be really short if that's your weight goal.


<--- significant loss has plateaued- time for new goals. Set new goal to get body fat at or below 11.9% (currently sitting at ~15%) while maintaining (at minimum) or adding lean mass (preferred). Scale weight is holding steady at 230#. My 36w pants are loose. 34s might be on the horizon.

I am currently down 140# since December. My current goal is 25# away. After hitting that I plan on setting another of probably 20# and keep going that route and see where I just stop at.

At home I was biking 10-20 miles a day 4-6 days a week. Now work is ramping up again so living in hotels and having to use the stationary bikes and ellipticals. But days I don't exercise any I feel the drain mid day, getting that blood flowing is a huge help.
Pants I bought a little more than a month ago and were just barely comfortable/ fitting are now almost to a loose point of needing a belt


Keep it up all. If my fatass that believed I could NEVER lose half the weight I have, anyone can.

I travel with a jump rope and Jungle Gym straps. LINK They're handy when the hotel has a shit fitness facility or if it's closed.
