Default Jeep Behind fifth wheel

I know it is legal as long as you have the rec double endorsement and are under 65'.

Me and the wife are debating on buying a fifth wheel or small motorhome next spring. I am thinking a fifth wheel for a few reasons. Less maintenance, cheaper insurance, cheaper.

Now I see guys hauling Rangers and boats all the time behind 5er's, but never a jeep. Has anybody done this and have pointers, or things they wish they would have done differently? Obviously a good hitch on the camper would need to be built.

My grandpa has built a bunch of hitches for campers to tandem trailer pull.

Are you talking dingy or on a trailer behind the fifth wheel?

says there that the second trailer cannot weigh more than the empty weight of the fifth wheel or the empty weight of the truck... so it appears that you'd need to tow it as a dingy than on a trailer because it would likely weigh more than the truck...

you could always upgrade to a 60' goose and put the fifth wheel on the front half of the trailer and have a space in the back.

When you say as a dingy I am assuming you mean flat tow?

Not sure what typical 24 to 28 foot fifth wheel weighs but I am almost positive the jeep and trailer are slightly less than my f250 CCSB (6,800 lbs.).

yup. I'm referring to legality, not reality.
