Shaving the 14 bolt and getting the ring gear turned. Our guy said he would turn down rings for $75 if anybody is looking.

Race #4 of TREC was this past weekend. They are changing up the format a bit, so it will be interesting to see where it goes. This race they only allowed pre-running on Friday night and Saturday morning before the park was open. This was JeepM715's weekend to drive.

We got down there Friday just before midnight, so we pre-ran on Saturday morning. We knew the course was going to be badass and it would be tough getting through the swampy woods section at night. Prerunning in the morning was great. Nobody else out there, so no worries of carrying speed through sections or backing up to check for the best line through a section.

Just before the driver's meeting Casey James Racing showed up, and we knew we had 4 guys to run B class with, and it would be a race between 2nd through 5th place. Kyle and Larry OK'd the race and agreed to time, so we were on. Unfortunately Betzner dropped before starting, so it was just 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

At the start line I asked Kyle if we could let the SXS guys go 5 minutes before B-class so we would not have to eat their dust and we would likely not see each other on the course. Kyle agreed and we never saw them after they left the finish line.

Kyle dropped the flag and the Casey James guys pulled the hole shot. JeepM715 hammered down and we managed to get past them and we were off like a rabbit being chased. The first third of the course is fast and JeepM715 was on. I was checking mirrors and couldn't see anything in the dust trail. We slowed through the swampy woods to try and not make any mistakes and ran it pretty clean and then ran the final third back in rabbit mode.

We started running a good pace for lap 2 and 3 and watching mirrors. As we got into the woods on lap 3 it fell apart for us. We missed a couple of turns and had to back up, and then the Casey James guys caught us. With the pressure, more turns were missed and finally the Casey James crew found the right path and blasted up the hill out of that area. We were excited to try and get our spot back and hopefully keep the race going for the next hour.

We were just getting to the hill as they peaked it and caught their rear tire on a tree and blew the bead and bent the rim. They led for maybe 100 feet. We felt bad as we came up, but knew they'd be busting ass to catch up. We went into keep it safe mode and kept running laps, stil having problems in the woods missing the optimal line.

After we got the white flag, we were racing to get back to the line when all of sudden in the same section of woods we saw lights behind us. We weren't sure if it could be Mugrage or Casey James, but it was game on! As they got up beside us we could tell it was CJR. We both worked towards the exit up the hill, but we got there first. JeepM715 hammered down, and we ran as hard as we could back to the finish line and managed to win by 20 seconds.

Looking at their lap times, they were flying. It was a great race, even with low attendance. Our fastest full lap was a 14:06 and they put down a 13:42 and 13:16 to catch us. F'n nuts! Hats off to Casey James Racing for laying down some fast laps to catch up.

Final race of the season is Oct 19th. We are also talking about heading down to the ECORS season finale in Harlan, Kentucky on Nov 16th.

Oh, and we figured out that hitting the rev limiter in 2nd gear, high range is just a tick under 80mph. We calc'd it out after hitting it on most every lap down the long backstretch.

Added some beef to the front knuckles. After the last race, we found the drag link bolt had nearly fallen out, so we added a double shear to it to eliminate the bolt working back and forth. While we were at it, we plated the whole knuckle and added double shear to the tie rod

Jesse stopped by PAC on the way over tonight and picked up some builder sway bar arms. We are hoping to try their new sway bar setup for the last TREC race. Looks like we will run a 40" wide bar under the frame.

We frenched the tube mount for the sway bar under the frame. We pushed it back about as far as we could go and it looks like the 13" arms should just clear the bump can mounts and not interfere with the shocks.

The tube mount is 37" wide and is 1.75x0.120 DOM. The bushing and arm width is 1.5", so we should use up all of the 40" wide bar. If it comes in time, we are going to try out the DOM tube sway bar; otherwise we will run the Tomahawk steel bar.

It should be interesting to see how the jeep handles with the sway bar.

I could have given you some advice on building good looking arms.

Good luck with the race.

Drove to work today in the jeep. I'm glad it's all back roads and no highway...
