I love the Droid platform and the fact that you have options as far as phones. Do you want a physical keyboard? Check. Do you want a waterproof phone? Check. Do you want a nice large screen to watch videos on? Check. Do you want native wireless charging? check.

With Apple, you get what they give you and that's it. And when the phone has problems like Apple's antenna problem they have the gall to tell people they are holding their phones wrong.

I just switched to iPhone for the first time after 4 years of Droid and I'm glad I did. It was the right choice, everything just seems to run better on the iPhone.

Thank you to all that have replied, guess I am going out today to shop around. I didn't know you could test drive a new phone before you buy.

As with anything, you get what you pay for. If you go get a cheap ass Android you will have a bad experience with it.

I have had a couple of android phones and a few iPhones. Recently I switched carriers (Verizon FTW) and iphone5 was an easy choice. Everything is compatible with it, there is no lag in any of the apps, all of the kool kids have one, you can hold it in one hand and still access everything on the screen, and I'm a Mac guy so I'm a little biased. I honestly can't stand the huge screens on a lot of the new droid phones. The only thing I wish my iPhone would do is be waterproof.

I am not a techie, but I downloaded an app to my droid and it allows me to hotspot with no problems off my phone. I do not believe I had to "root" my phone, though I do not know what rooting is.

If you don't know what it is then you didn't have to do it. I almost went iPhone this last time around but couldn't bring myself to pay a premium for outdated technology.

I agree with everyone that said it depends on what you feel more comfortable with. iPhone seem more user friendly and apps seem like they are less crappy. HTC, Samsung, and Motorola probably make the best droid phones right now. Some people I know have the newer Nokia phones and seem to not hate them. Having both and now the owner of an iPhone, I probably won't switch back to droid.

The wife and I went from iphones (4s's) to some samsung galaxys. The battery life sucked on the galaxy's. and pretty much everything sucked on them (s3's).

So, went and got verizon. wife wanted to go back to her iphone, and thank god the guy at the store helped me talk her out of it.

we both got the razor maxx HD's. MAN! love these phones. I havent found one thing negative yet. we have had them for a month and a half. no need for the maxx BTW. the razor HD would be just fine to. just less storage.

that would be my recommendation

Droids do this out of the box now... it was a carrier restriction. When carriers went to shared plans they enabled it no rooting required.

I vote for Droid based Galaxy Rugby Pro. It is a Water/dust/shock/drop proof phone, and not just hyped up advertising. I have swam with mine, baled hay, and dropped it on cement screen down.

reading some of this rooting stuff for hot spot.

my verizon razor HD (droid) has a verizon hot spot app. free of charge. with 3 bars out on the farm I am getting 20mb up and 9mp down. I play black ops 2 off my phone. no rooting. no romming. no clocking. nothing.

My phone is all stock. Oh, and I can go 72 hours with no charge. NOW, that is light use. on a heavy day being hott spotted all day and on and off it all day it will last me till midnight if taken off the charger at 6am.

and its just barely bigger than the iphone 5. the new galaxys were to wide to operate one hand for me. but then again maybe I have small hands? I know the damn note 2 is rediculous, and people look rediculous when they have that ipad attached to there hip.

good luck in your choice.

I have a razr maxx HD and love it. good phone and screen size with a battery that lasts longer then I've ever needed it to. I would recommend this phone or a galaxy s4 if you find yourself liking the droids. If you wait a little bit longer this month Motorola is releasing it's new droid (Verizon only I believe) and it's gonna be a bad mf'er. I'm biased towards Motorola when it comes to droids, since they usually have great hardware and build quality.

IPhones are great phones too, just not my style.
