Default In search of a cad job.

Hey guys, I got my associates in CAD from muskegon cc. Been looking for a job in the muskegon area. I'm solid works certified and am good with inventor also. Quick learner as well. Ready to get out of the plumbing gig. It stinks

I designed and built this press in school.

If anybody is in the industry, and knows of anything, give me a shout

I use Indeed.com to look for jobs and have seen lots on the west side, most seem to use Solid Works too.

Having worked there, I wouldn't call it a last resort. It isn't the 9th toughest place to interview for in the country for no reason.

Hi Bob.

Hi Bob.
I meant moving as a last resort. Not that place in particular

Really? I get about 3 CAD job posts a week for west MI, mostly around GR, but some over by Muskegon, Kzoo, etc. for various CAD positions.

Are you doing coordination of pipe work for BIM management, clash detection with Navis works viewer for your plumbing layouts???
Why does the plumbing Gig stink, the guys that are doing the above are making union foreman's scale 80,000 +_ for those who know what they are doing.

always hiring. If you haven't already create a user name and upload a current copy of your resume. Keep an eye on the site occaisionally for a job that fits you. It's only a matter of time. If you would like, PM me I can help you with any questions. As Feva said, it is not an easy company to get in to.

They come up, I apply, and rarely hear back.

I think the no experience in a shop thing turns everyone away. That's why I was asking here. It's always better to know somebody that knows somebody.

Since you have a plumbing back ground this may be a very good field for you.

I was talking to a coworker who is one of 2 or 3 fire sprinkler system reviewers in the state. He happened to be talking about how shitty plans were drawn up for a job hes reviewing. The guy designing it has 0 experience with fire suppression but knows cad which is why they hired him. If you know cad, plumbing and could learn about fire suppression it is my understanding there is high demand for good people.

Unfortunately I have not done any type of piping layouts ever. My cad degree focused on product design, as it is a program meant to transfer right into ferris states product design Bachelors degree.

gotcha, I thought you meant indeed wasn't finding you any CAD wobs to apply for, yes, getting experience can be an issue, I was lucky and started with a co-op job while still in HS, been in the field ever since 25+ years later.
