Angry Waste Management driver kills USCG station dog

I am beyond words with this one. As a former coastie and as a station that had our own dog they truly become one of the team. They live to go out on the calls and great when the kids came for tours. How waste management is handling this is total bullshit, at least man up to what one of your drivers did!!

Sad, all a dog wants to do is be with their pack. Time for the coasties to go on a hunting expedition of their own.

Eastpointe cancelled their contract with WM, not for this reason, but I am glad my tax dollars are not going to WM!

Hey now I work for WM. we have over 50,000 trucks on the road every day. Sad to hear a dog has passed. But as long as it wasn't a person. Dogs are very hard to see in these trucks. I picked up the US coast guard today in Detroit and on Belle Isle. These stations keep their dogs leashed up.

Blue mule the guys doing your trash now Rizzo are a bunch of drunks druggies and excons. And it's not me making up shit. I see these guys everyday at gddra. Just stop in at Dan and Vi's at Chene and 94 at lunch time those guys are drinking, smoking dope and I've been offered lines by them guys. A lot of guys that used to work at WM that got let go went to work their. Sure hope you feel good about your tax dollars now.

I can tell you at WM we are held to extremely high standards. We get drug screened regularly. We have to pass a FBI / homeland security background check and cannot have more than two points on our driving record.

I just read this article and I don't really believe it. At WM anytime their is a critical nice dent such as this all districts review it and try to come up with solutions that we as drivers can do to avoid this in the future. If they called WM they wouldn't just blow it off. I took out a cable wire three weeks ago and three supervisors came out and I was instructed to stay there until they arrived. Thankfully it was a line that wasn't used and I was let go with just a written warning. If it had been a live wire I would have been suspended for three days with no pay. And if I had another incident in the. Ext 12 months I would be terminated.

i drive a semi, and its hard to see something as close to the ground as a dog.
its a sad story for sure.

in my near million miles i have hit many small animals, including dogs.
there is not much we can do. its not a ferrari, its a truck.
most times we are not sure if we hit them or not?

i always feel bad when i hit an animal, but it happens.

"if" the dog was not on a leash, then the guys in charge of him are also at fault.

"if" the truck driver was speeding then thats a problem. can anyone accurately tell us the speed he was traveling?
i have been reported for speeding in ohio many times, the speed limit is 65 for trucks. mine is governed at 63.

So there are a bunch of Coast Guard guys whose comrade was just run over on a regular, probably weekly route. I have a feeling next week there may be some sort of accident with no witnesses in which the driver is severely injured. I'm strangely okay with that scenario.

This is true. And a side note we as truck drivers put these trucks in places where most people in their little four wheelers have trouble. If the dog was not on a leash no fukks given. When I walk my dogs they are always on a leash. Granted its for people's protection also.

If the Dog wasn't on a leash I don't think it was the dogs fault he wasn't. No matter who was at fault of the dog dying the people in charge of the dog or the truck driver it's still sad..

As long as they don't smash the fukc out of my garbage cans and lose the lids, causing ME to get a fine from the city and having to buy new cans every 2 months, well, fukks not given.

Hey, my wife just told me that the Rizzo truck dropped off an huge frickin can we are supposed to use!

Not to cause more of an argument....but working for DirecTV we were held to "high standards"; we were drug screened every 6 months (don't know why), and had to pass 2 different background checks before we got hired in; and could not have any points on our driving licenses at all during employment.

I'd call that pretty strict, but by no means would I call that being held to a high standard; you would not believe some of the people that they would hire in. Being able to pass a drug screen and not have any points on you're license does not mean someone is of a "high standard". At least if they were on drugs that would be a reason for some of the plain, flat out f**king retards that worked for DirecTV; instead they're just retards in general.
