1979 CJ7,
86,000 miles.

I would drive this Jeep anywhere, and I have, I've driven it to Silver Lake several times, to Grayling, West Branch, and up to Bad Axe a bunch of times, the previous owner drove it from Rhode Island to deliver it to me in Michigan, it's very dependable and very capable, it drives great on the road and wheels even better.

The drive line is pretty much stock, but it has power lock diff lockers in the stock axles, I believe it has one piece shafts in the rear, 3 speed manual trans, 5 - 35" MTR's in great shape, urethane motor and trans mounts, steering box brace, new clutch, york compressor and a two gallon tank under the hood. The stock roll bar now has a rear section and windshield bars, newer Bestop soft top in excellent condition, Cobra 40 channel CB, the seats are in good shape, I did the Blazer blower motor upgrade a long time ago so the heat is great, did the HEI ignition upgrade too, it has Warn rock sliders, and custom 2"x4" bumpers with tire carrier on the rear, D ring mounts front & rear, the Warn bumpers in the pics have been replaced.

The body is not great, it's solid enough, just not pretty up close, the floors and body mounts are good, it's begging for a set of tube fenders cuz the stock ones are rusty.

Now the bad news, the passenger side front rear spring hanger has pushed up through the frame, the typical spot where these CJ frames rust, and the rear frame rails could use some attention too, I don't have the time or the tools to do the frame work and that is honestly the only reason I am considering selling it, fix the frame, and you've got a solid, reliable, and capable Jeep.

258 cid Engine pretty much stock, other than a GM HEI distributor

York OBA system

T-150 3 speed trans

Dana 20 T-Case

Front Dana 30 with power lock locker

Rear AMC 20 with power lock locker and one piece shafts???

4" Skyjacker springs

35" x 12.50" x 15" MTR's on American Racing aluminum wheels

Polyurethane bushings everywhere

$3,500.00 and I'll throw in any and every CJ part I have laying around the garage, any less and I'll just keep it until I can find someone to do the work.

I'm not positive anymore John, I'm pretty sure it's 3.54, I wrote it down years ago so I would remember but.........I don't remember where I put my notes.

Passenger side, forward rear spring hanger.

Right rear section.

Left rear section.

The rear frame rails are solid on top, outside, and bottom, the last 12"-18" of the inside needs to be plated.

The Jeep looks pretty much the same as the pictures up top, I pulled the bumpers off of my Rubicon to put on the CJ a few days ago, so that's not done yet, the ones that are going on the CJ are damn near as nice as the Warns, they're 2"X4" 3/16" steel, and angle cut on the bottom, but there's "W" on em.

They look like this.....hell, this might even be them.

It's a nice looking jeep from the first pics but man at the price to just chase that frame rust just isn't logical that frame needs replaced it will just keep creeping until there is nothing left.

The pics make it look a lot worse than it actually is, the frame is rock solid from that point forward, the rear sections just need to be plated on the inside, and there's plenty of good material to weld in a frame repair section where the hanger is, this is a common problem on older CJ's, someone could buy all the pre made repair sections from autorust.com for $375 and weld them in, or fab the plates and do the same for next to nothing, that, and a little POR 15 and it's good to go.

Obviously it's not drivable, it's only been moved in and out of the garage for about a year and a half now.

From my first post....."fix the frame, and you've got a solid, reliable, and capable Jeep"

FYI, for those who don't know, Power lock diffs are not "lockers" they are limited slips.
