Default Anyone hiring?

Looking for work now that I made it back up here.

I am a veteran, and have been in IT for a while. Dont know what I want to do now that I am back up here.

I have interviewed with some places. and have been offered a few positions, but one I turned down, and another I am considering. The one I turned down the offer was way to low for shift/hours/job they wanted done. and the schedule rotated in the middle of my night class schedule at washtenaw.

Dont know if I want to be an "IT guy" or not anymore. I have been a disappointed with the career field the last few years, and the offers I have had the last few months have been to low.

And no, I am not looking for 100k a year. but would atleast like to be into the 40's/50's (which I think is more than fair).

Just thought I would check on here if anyone knew of any job openings. Doesn't have to be just IT...

I might as well add.

I am mechanically inclined and have plenty of tools. although I am not really "certified" in allot. I have worked as an electrician for a buddy for a year or so and did good doing that.

I have worked as a mechanic... A satellite tech... Tool dealer (cornwell tool dealer for 2 years)...

Oh, I should have said that I am not a certified electrician. I had a buddy that was and needed a good honest hand. So I helped him out with residential stuff.

Who is that on here always looking for an entry level machinist that can drill a hole in the right spot?

I have a family member that works at a college. They go through IT's every 3-6 months.

Stupid question here but why not go to an employer getting into a entry level position as a journey man electrician or mechanic. The employer could train and certify you (for free) pending you work for them a year at 18-22k. You work that one year then move into a position at another company making the 40-50k. You have a good reference from your last employer or will end up getting a raise for them to keep you there. The ball is in your court after that agreed on year.

I have purposed this a few times ending up with useless degrees as a result.

Your going to need a certification to start out at 50k. Hell if your degree is old most will want you to take a refresher course.

Pick a path in I.T. and get certified. You'll make more than 50g's.
