Question Pistol resale question

I have searched around and can't find the specific info I am looking for. I don't want to register with MGO just to ask this question.

In Michigan how long (if at all) must a person wait to resell a revolver purchased legally from a private individual. Straw purchess would not apply the way I read, because it was not purchased with intent to sell to a specific person.

Only information I know as fact, you must keep your copy (as purchaser) of the RI-060 (pistol sales record) for 30 days after it is handed in. You as a purchaser have 10 days to return the RI-060 to the apropreate official based on the location of residence.

My best guess would be 30 days from the date the RI-060 is turned in. Reasoning for this conclusion is to allow time for the state to register it in the purchasers name.

I believe the reason for the extra copies of the RI60 are for this reason. You as the seller keep a copy of the purchasers RI60 and you have your original copy from when you purchased it, therefore you're covered. I'm assuming the purchaser is a CCW holder.

2 of my pistols were my grandpas and my grandma was being kinda weird about the guns so all the guns were split between my dad and uncle. That being said my dad and I were told at the sheriffs dept once the gun was registered in my dads name to wait a week then I could go get my paper work and transfer them to my name.

Not sure if that's what you are looking for but we had no issues what so ever

I wouldn't think you have to wait at all, that's why paperwork is dated. Although you're dealing with a government entity and I can see some confusion in trying to interpret the paperwork if an older record shows up after the most recent one.

This is my fear. If I register it in my county an sell it to you and you register it with your county. What if mine if slower? Also if just days apart it will look like a straw deal. However, I'm not sure that they even actively look for that.

I always paid an extra $1 (for the printout), to have Oakland county register with the state while I waited.

We get calls all the time from the sheriffs dept. A guy drops off a consignment so we transfer to us . He walks out and a guy walks in to buy. The buyer drops off the paperwork before we mail ours out. They go By dates but they should have a place for the time on there.

Fukk paperwork! State don't need to know what you have and what you sell!

Legally...

There is no time limit and the lack of a specific law regarding such means you can turn the gun over 5 minutes after you buy it.

Just hang onto the forms that show you no longer own the gun.

no time limits. I have bought and sold a gun before I even turned in the paperwork showing that I bought the pistol (only had it for about 4 hours).

They enforce the laws, they must know them all. It's a true story.
