Default 2000 S-10 2.2L Backfire and Missing

I was driving to work and my truck backfired really loud then shut off. I pulled over and my vehicle would not start. After a couple minutes I tryed again and it backfired loud again then started up. But now it is running really bad almost like it is only running on 2 cylinders. Spit and sputtering sounds like an old John Deere tractor. It runs but has very little power to move it self. Any clues on what it may be?

I would guess it jumped timing. A friend of mine has the same truck and had the same issue and it was the timing chain. It has chain guides and they wear out and the chain gets sloppy and will jump. His guide shattered and took the chain out. I would bet that is whats wrong.
