Default Exhaust manifold Gasket

'78 304. Going back to stock manifolds. What gaskets should I get, and should I use some type of gasket sealer, if so what brand.

Studs or bolts also.

Thanks

It depends on how your pipes are built, and are you installing all the original parts. The factory exhaust used flared pipes, which require a donut. On the passengers side there was a heat riser, which required a flange gasket between the manifold and it, and then a donut below where the pipe attached.

If you are like most of us that have pipes bent, they will not be flaring them, so you will be using a flange gasket between the pipe and the manifold. You can look around for a quality flange gasket, but I have found that muffler shops sell the best you can get. They have a style that has a screen mesh in them with a metal center ring. I have never had one fail.

When you install these, you do need to seal them with Permatex High-Heat Red RTV.

I have always removed the studs and installed grade 8 bolts with grade 8 washers. I never re-use them. It's a minor cost compared to messing with the old studs.
