Default transfer case issue?

I have a 2002 silverado 2500hd with the 6.0L...the issue is that once in awhile when I put the truck into drive the truck will start to move then it will act like it pops outta gear and won't move as if the transfer case is in neutral...I gotta put it into 4we and then it will let me move...once it will move I can put it back into 2wd and it will be fine....truck is push button on dash and has 236hd transfer case.....has anyone else have this problem or know why it does this?

The selector motor that is on the side of the TC is going bad. 150.00ish price of the unit + install IIRC. Once it is in 2wd, you will most likley find that your front driveshft is locked. Essentially, you are driving around in 4wd all the time, but it doesn't feel like it because of the 1/2 shaft on the passenger side is disconnecting like it should.

Good luck. Hopefully they are the same. There seems to be a few different versions depending on year. GL.
