When I went to Alaska last august I picked up a fuji something, dead out of the box. I then bought a panasonic ts20. Waterproof etc... the only drawback I can see is there isnt a cover over the lens when you power down, so scratches could be an issue. I had it for a week on a motorcycle in rain, freezing temps, lots of vibration, etc. Worked flawless. No scratches on lens after 300 plus pictures, pulling it out of the tank bag each time. Shitty zoom, but takes better pictures than it should. Great compact sport, hiking, anything camera. I did test underwater in a pool and it takes good shots. They make a better version but its over 300. I think I paid around 175?

Here is my favorite pic from the camera...downsized for web...

For all camera related issues.....ask Hagerman.
Dude is an Idiot (savant) when it comes to cameras.

Stop taking pictures and take short movies in 1080P, you'll be surprised at the screen shots you can pull off of them.....unless you're making which case, you're going to need a good camera anyway My Cannon S90 takes ridiculous pictures for it's size but the zoom is limited to 3.8. The picture is as close to DSLR territory as you'll get in a compact handheld. Wife has a Canon PowerShot SX230 and the 14X zoom is really nice but it doesn't take a shot anywhere close to quality of the S90. A used S90 is around $100 these days I think. I took over 1500 pictures over 3 weeks in Europe and charged it 3 times. It's sat around the house for 5-6 months now on the last charge so battery life hasn't really been an issue yet. That's been my experience with those models. S90 is awesome in low light as well.
