Well it hasn't taken over my life yet but it's taking over my wallet. I've been getting into rock climbing recently. I jut ordered a second rope today and plan on doing a bridge swing soon. Something like this. Check out this video on YouTube:

I try to excel as a business owner and mechanic. My hardest critic (other than my wife) is myself.

Welding. If its weldable I'll weld it. Aluminum, cast aluminum, steel, cast steel, cast iron, stainless, bronze, brass, whatever. I like it when I get jobs that make you have to use your noggin. Like welding 8620 to 4140 or .060 to .375 or saw blades or razor blades

Beat me to it

On a serious note, I have never been "awesome" at anything. I am a very competitive person, and I enjoy turning hobbies into things I compete at. In the past I was a pretty good barefoot water skier and competed growing up and won a few tournaments etc. I also competed as a wakeboarder, I was solid, but never awesome. Now adays its mountain biking, I do pretty well, but I'm not awesome, there are tons of guys who are faster than I am, but I hold my own in my age group.

I do also try everyday to be better than my co-workers at my job. I am consistently a top producer for our organization/group. I still don't know that I would say I am awesome.

And last I try to be a good parent to my son and my step daughter (soon to be). Again, not the best, but I do what I can and try to focus on my shortcomings to be a better parent whenever I can.

My job would be the #1 thing that I strive to be good at. Second would be growing hot peppers. Not standard hot peppers like jalapeños and habaneros either. I'm talking about peppers that will melt your face.

Be awesome at this. My parents and step parents were whacked out and self absorbed. I got virtually no life instruction growing up and had to learn how to function as an adult through trial and error. I am teaching my daughters how to function in the real world and hopefully, preparing them to be self reliant by the time they turn 18. I am stressing that life isn't fair and they may have to try harder and receive less reward than others around them. When they get a little older, I plan on teaching them how to use credit, balance a checkbook, the potentials of credit cards and easy credit, etc.. I am also stressing accountability for their decisions. I often notice they are doing something wrong and I let them struggle with it for a while until they figure it out. I am trying to embed them with an analytical thought process so they figure their own problems out. I guess my goal is to make them self sufficient and productive members of society. Times will be much tougher for my girls when they grow up, I am trying to give them the tools to survive. Am I an awesome parent? Far from it. I'm doing the best I can and am hoping for the best.

I don't try to be better than anybody, but I do try and strive to improve me skills at working on cars. For some reason, I got the itch and all I want to do is work on cars. I won't touch my Jeep, but I'll work on anybody else's car. Guess I'm getting bored with my job

I don't have a competitive bone in my body, unless it is against myself. If there is something I want or need to figure out or learn I will, plain and simple. Right now I am attempting to figure out how to properly pack and smoke a traditional tobacco pipe, which is a sort of dying art.

Besides that I try to be the very best father I can, taking my kids on all sorts of grand adventures, enjoying life to the fullest.
