Contact 2fst4u. He probably has a line on a 6.0 or 5.3 or 4.8 and probably a dozen other options.

pulled the pan. no signs of metal failure in the bottom. no clogged pickup. put the pan back on. filled it back up with oil. fired it up. at idle its showing 0-10lbs pressure. and I was hearing a ticking on the top end of the motor. I only let it run for a minute before shutting it off.

can an oil pump go bad?? or is it just fucked and I needs a new go faster thingy a doodle.

Put a Turbo Hyabusa motor in it. That would be sweet in your Jeep.

I doubt it's the pump. GM engines all seem to tick when first started so that's not really telling you anything. Low oil pressure is.

John, I wouldn't think a wiped cam bearing would knock like he first explained.

I was thinking along the lines the low oil pressure causing the knock. The cam bearing causing the low oil pressure.

What yr is your 6.0L and application it came from?

My 5.3 lost oil pressure and started knocking shortly after I put it in.
Ended up being the pump. theres a spring loaded valve in them and the spring broke. Not saying that's your problem but it was mine. If theres no metal in the oil its hard to believe a cam bearing spun. Those make a lot of bling
