Default Temp Agency

Kelly Services is now the second largest company in the nation.
There are more part time workers than fulltime workers in the country. Looks like a sign of things to come.
There will be more part timers added to that list soon. Obamacare mandate for employers to supply healthcare for fulltime people. What do employers do?
They cut you down to part time.
Who said government healthcare would be a good thing?
We know it is not going to be free, somebody will be paying for it and it will be everybody, unless your one of the lucky ones to be exempt.

i was mentioning this to a guy i work with who sadly voted for obama. he was bitching his daughter got her hours cut and he thought it was bullshit they hired someone else to fill the time. i pointed out that obamacare that he had a hand in voting in is the root cause of that. he didn't like it too much lol

Full time versus part time...
Contract versus direct hire...

Two very different things that people use interchangeably sometimes. Pros and cons to both for the employer and the employee.

1. Kelly services is not the second largest company in the nation. That article is incorrect. Kelly services is not even the second largest staffing company in the US.

2. You and that article are both vastly misunderstanding the difference between a contract worker and a part time worker who is not offered benefits.

3. I provide very decent healthcare and vacation/time off to engineers who I place. I provide the same healthcare offerings to all employees that I place.

4. Obamacare sucks.

This.

As somebody who handles Bureau of Labor Statistics QCEW, LAUS, CES, CPS, and OES data basically all day every day, this article leaves out so much information and confuses so much that it is downright laughable.

One massive omission from the article is that big spikes in temp and contract staffing have been the norm at the tail end of the last few recessions as employers use the staffing agencies to test the waters regarding whether or not they want to begin hiring permanent employees again. Many economists look at these surges in temporary staffing and contract employment statistics as leading indicators of good things to come. The test will be whether these numbers start to plateau (relative to total employment) in the next 18 to 24 months.
