Trek Top NX Bikini Top Fix (smacking noise @ 50mph +)

So, I just got my Trek Top NX for the two door JK and loved it. Loved the look, layout and yes, the ease of installing the top (don't believe the ones who said it was incredibly hard, perhaps do not install in the dead of winter?)

This being said, I took the windows off and left the bikini top on and was doing fine until I hit 55mph and then the joyride was over. The bikini top started thumping incredibly hard. Especially on the highway. It was unbearable and I was scouring to figure out how to fix it and then I came across this thread on another jeep forum:

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/tre...nt-150756.html

This guy is a genius, he writes on how to fix this:

"So it dawned on me. Galvanize water pipe. I went to Lowes and bought a 4 foot piece of 1/2" Galvanized pipe with two end caps for a total of $15 and change with tax. I changed it out in the parking lot. Pulled out the aluminum bar and screwed one end cap on the galvanized pipe and slid it through the top and put on the other end cap. Tightened it back down and hit the highway.

Got up to 75 mph and not even a flicker. Pulled over and opened the Sunrider and re-tightened the rear straps and hit the highway again. Again not even a flicker. It ran perfect open or closed. You need the end caps to make the bar long enough to fit perfect. The original bar is 50". The 48" pipe plus two end caps are 49" but is enough to work."

I will be going to Home Depot right after posting this. I will comment back with photos and a report.

Wow, aboslutely worked. Very impressed and pleased.

The only potential issue at the moment is whether or not the windows will zip back on with the pipe. I will report back upon trying.

Worked just fine. All windows zipped in with no issue. Super fix if you're attempting to stop the flap.
