Whites Bridge Burned

Whites Bridge, oldest covered bridge in the state, burned into the river some time in the night.

I want to be part of the lynch mob if they find the ass hole who did this.

Sad day. They just get this bridge opened back up after some drunk drove through the side of it and some inbred has to burn it down.

Never heard of it, its just a covered bridge, what's the attachment? build another and get over it. If you like covered bridges that much, move to Vermont, they have a shitload and most are much older.

Respecting a covered bridge? Sure it sucks it burnt down, but honestly it's just a bridge, and other than being old it holds no historical significance. So again, big deal...and talk about mixed up priorities, you think a piece of shit old bridge is the same a human life?

I have to agree. It sucks that it was burned, but it was still a bridge.

And no man made structure holds the same value as a human life.

If I caught someone trying to burn down my house, the value of their life would be of no consideration to me.

Insurance doesn't replace the memories I have made with my family. I am not trying to equate the covered bridge to my house, but you said no man made structure. Maybe you are right about the structure itself, but the memories that are accumulated in a house are sacred. Also, there is a good chance my children would be in my house.

That said, muskegon_zj_gurl is probably right about it being fireworks.

If somebody was purposely trying to burn down my house I do feel their life is worth less than my property. I don't care if I have insurance to cover it. I'm not saying I would kill them for doing it but I would probably laugh if they spilled a little gas down their pant leg before they lit the match

Not to sound harsh, but memories are just that, memories. So again your property or anyone else's for that matter can be replaced

If you are in the home then it's not a crime against property and of course your reaction would be different...however if they just burn the house down and you or your family is not there, then fukc it, it was just a house.

Some people are good and some people are bad. Some people make poor decisions that affect the property of others.

But unless that decision has brought you or someone else to harm, then no, you don't have the right to decide their life means nothing. You are now the killer where they were only an arsonist/burglar/general shit bag.

Hopefully the base metal structure is still intact lessening the clean up.

Now, you get a lead free bridge with new steel underneath. It sucks it happened. But, the outcome is a better safer bridge. Well, unless they reuse the old steel now weakened structure like they most likely will and simply put new wood on it when surrounding residents complain about the tax increase.
