Default help itentifying ignition hardware

Hi Jeep folks.

I have a problem. I have a Frankenstein monster of a postal jeep with the AMC 6cyl - nothing is original on this jeep it would have came with a GM 4 cyl in 83. I noticed that I was drooling hot silicone out of the engine compartment onto the drive when it was running. It was the innards of an ignition module going to goo. Problem is: when looking into the numbers on this ignition system, I have hit some walls. Here is the hardware:

'83 Postal Jeep.

ENGINE: 258 4.2L 3.75 L-6 (serial # 902A24, block # 3224098, so late 70's perhaps)

Current distributor: Prestolite IDJ-4002C, serial# 3224969 - cant find any info on this model.

Current MELTING ignition box: Prestolite #65-102

Obviously I need to replace the box. Probably the entire electronic ignition. Can anyone tell me what I have and (more importantly) what I need??

thanks!!

I would check the diz gear to see if it harden if you get that diz, or swap the old one.
You should look up the stealth hei, nutter and team rush mods, the steath hei can be done for around $25. This may not work for you if it is around per 77 or 78
