In your opinion, but your opinion doesn't matter only mine.

I would also go with a .22 for larger rodents. I bought a .177, can't remember brand, a few years ago for dispatching red squirrels, and then ran into a raccoon problem. A well placed shot with a .177 will take them out of a tree, but you might have to take a couple shots to put them out of their misery. Now I wish I would have ponied up a few more $$'s and went bigger. Also make sure you buy the correct ammo for 'hunting'.

I thought that law was changed. In MI woodchucks can be hunted with a small game license.

For a hunting air rifle go with a precharged or a nitro piston gun. The spring powered ones don't like to be left with the spring compressed for very long. Benjamin sells a nitro piston gun for less than $200 but it is made in China. I have a cheaper RWS that is from china. It is not bad for what I paid but when compared to the German made RWS sidelever guns I have you can tell it is not as well made. The Gamo guns aren't bad for the money. I thought that the MI law on the air rifles suppresors had been changed. The nitro piston guns are much quiter than the spring guns with or without a suppresor. My buddy has one of the pre charged guns that is about as loud as a centerfire rifle. My next one will be a Beeman Nitro piston gun.

WRONG!

Michigan says they are firearms, federal law does not, Michigan law only allows silencers on federal firearms. It is a stupid hole in the silencer law
