1/2 ton axle swap

I just got a dana 44 front and a 14 bolt rear and I was woundering what I need to swap them out with my 1/2 ton axles under my 88 burb. like I have a 8in suspension lift on it now and was woundering if I needed new u bolts cuz of the bigger axles or diff leafs.

For the rear yes, for the front measure the tube & u bolts. But mostlikley the fronts will need to be replaced too.

From past experiences, You should always replace U-bolts. I have reused them and they never seem to stay tight when they have been used before.

fronts will be the same as whats under there now. if the rear is a ff it will definitely be bigger.

I can add some light to this since I know him personally and helped him put on his lift. His you bolts are brand new every thing under the truck was replaced. But I'm doing a sas swap on my 98 chevy and we got a killer deal on axles and he's wondering if it's worth it pretty much. Also what he would have to change.

needs to have new spring plates for the rear axle since the new axle is bigger. new u bolts for the rear for same reason. and will have to change the u joint on axle end of rear drive shaft to accept bigger yoke on the 14 bolt.

okay by what mean do u mean about bigger spring plates the spring purches on the axles have to get redone. and am I going to need bigger leaf springs cuz the ones I have are ones for the stock 1/2 ton axles

no you dont need bigger or different springs. you dont need to re-do your perches. the spring plates are the plate that the u-bolts go thru that sit atop of the spring to hold the spring to the axle. bigger diameter axle = bigger bolt hole span of spring plate and u-bolt size

okay thx. do u know where I can get that special u joint that goes from 1/2 ton drive shaft to the 14 bolt yoke. let me know.

Any parts store
I believe they are referred to as "change" u-joints
