Default I need a passport....fast.

Long story real short.

I am flying to British Columbia on August 2nd. I just found out today. I need a passport right?

What is the fastest most efficient way to do so?

http://travel.state.gov/passport/get...first_830.html

Any tips outside of this stuff here?

Entry into the United States: When traveling by air from Canada, U.S. citizens are required by U.S. law to present a U.S. passport book, except as noted in the few exceptions provided on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

Reading about exceptions now, but it appears a passport will be required to come home.

.....

Looks like passport is easiest and best option.

You can get them quick by going to Chicago or paying an agency.

if you go to the chicago or i think there is a detroit office they will rush you one, but it still takes 3 weeks (from what i can remember) and costs a little over $200

Chad, shoot a message to Regan. He got one really quickly and will have some insight for you. Yes, you will need a passport.

Congrats on the trip, BC is amazing and I can't wait to see it in the summer. Make sure you get away from Whistler a bit if you can, the interior is way less touristy.

You really still have plenty of time to mail it in and pay the extra fee for the 2-3 week turn around, so no sweat.

But if you feel like further procrastinating I got a passport in under 24 hours, picking it up the day before I left the country. Here's how to get it done the quickest:

The nearest passport agency is located in Detroit, close enough to go down in person to submit everything and expedite the process. You first need to call and schedule an appointment, do this right away because the next available time might be a week or two out. Walk in there with all the required documents, photos, payment, etc. Tell them when you are leaving, and if it is very soon you can return to pick up your passport as soon as the next day, or you can just have them mail it to you from there. Done.

We will be picked up via float plane/small plan in Vancouver. flown to williams lake, riding in that area, a ride into spruce lake, back country camping, ride out, some other rides in the area, only one day at Whistler bike park, during crankworx, so should be extremely busy, but we'll only be there the one day, then flown back to vancouver.

Riding Aug 3-Aug 11.

Going to be kick ass.

I went to the agency (Can't remember the name) inside the National City building at Big Beaver and I75, I paid the expediting fee and got it the next day. I can get the name of the place for you tonight if you need it, there is a sticker on my passport that has their info on it.

Sounds like a great trip. If you had more time the interior/Okanagan Valley is great, I used to live there. Biking and 4 wheeling paradise and trout fishing.
Watch out for bears while camping
