Default Supreme court to rule on gay rights today?

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/27/us...iage.html?_r=0

Looks like the supreme court will make a ruling on if it is legal for states to prevent it from happening, and if the federal government will accept gay marriage as being legit.

It's 2013, why is this still an issue?

I don't get why we're wasting this much taxpayer money on an issue that relates to less than 1.8% of the population when over 10% of the population isn't supposed to even be on US soil.

Don't forget the president just kicked off an initiative to increase our energy bills exponentially and his other policy that is going to reduce our fuel economy another 8% and eat fuel systems alive is about to run its course.

It is nobody else's business what two people choose to do as long as it doesn't infringe on other people and their rights to choose to do what they want.

I was under the impression that it was ruled unconstitutional for the federal government to say what the states can/can't allow, marriage wise?

What two people do is not the issue. The issue is should those two people be treated the same if they are same sex.

I believe that the ruling means that the federal government can no longer deny federal benefits to those married in states that allow gay marriage but that it will still be up to the individual states to allow or not allow the marriages from occurring within their own borders.

I don't know where you got your numbers but everything I can find has both illegal immigrants, and homosexuals at around 3.5% of the total US population.

You should be careful talking like that....the NSA will read that and within a couple days you'll have an "accident"

So what if the some initiative is going to cost millions more to every American....the fags want to get married!!!! How dare we let that happen!!!!!

Congratulations on missing the point entirely.

Just so we're clear though, "Among adults who identify as LGB, bisexuals comprise a slight majority (1.8% compared
to 1.7% who identify as lesbian or gay)."

It was a rough estimate off the top of my head, they aren't legally registered so who fucking knows how many of them there really are

Yes, you are correct. I am missing the point. What is the connection between this supreme court case regarding same sex marriage and illegal immigration?
