I agree with this.

I made no assumptions. I did say all this i will do the and I will do that talk is BS. Without training, and dynamic training at that you are not ready for an encounter such as this. That statement doesn't mean that a person couldn't defend themselves without training, nor does it mean you have to have extensive training. It just simple means without the training you are not prepared. You could have the best training in the world and be totally ready for an attack and when it comes do nothing, however it won't be because you were not prepared. At no point did I suggest she, you or anybody couldn't defend themselves with or without training

To my own wife I would advocate take a hit, stay down, and let him move on. The confusion comes with the continued attack. Kids are still safe, but for how long? Strong argument for allthegunsallthetime, but a hard sell to a housewife. Guns stashed in each room and locked doors-any noise and at the ready (not that I would condone such activity).

It was painfull to do again but I watched slower pausing the video. This woman had no fight in her . It makes me wonder if she just opened the door for him then he turned ? Did you ever see a female bear with her cubs ? She will fight to the death other them ! It don't matter what larger male bear what ever it is on.

Sitting on the couch at home is probably the most relaxed and unalertful anyone gets, and judging how she was backing up into the frame she probably did what most would do, go see what that noise is. All which are pretty counter intuitive when you need to prepare to fight or flee. The news report said the guy kicked in the door. A secure door that increased this guy's time to get inside could've been provided a different outcome.

I agree. It appears to be the back door of the house he entered from and I'd bet it wasn't locked. Having had a few seconds extra warning would've done a lot of good in that situation.

I also wonder if they were believers in the "coexist"

That's exactly my point. I do have loaded guns in my house that I can get to in about 5-10 seconds, enough time that if someone was trying to break my door down I could arm myself. That being said hancho and ff make good points and I readily admit that I'm not well trained nor do I know how I would react in that type of situation

You trained to get good, whereas typical Marine indoc is repetitive training. All Honcho said was that repetitive training is the type of training that can allow a great result to be gleaned from.

I always wanted to go on a west PAC been on two med floats on the same ship lol. Yeah I'm sure my anger was misguided and or honcho is really good at getting under even the thickest of skin (probably both). I just hate to see videos like that, people should be more prepared just for life in general, society will not get better just further down the crapper.

The lar dudes were always cool. In fact one of the first fire fights I was in at Kandahar airport I had a lar come right up next to my fighting hole and unleash what was that 20mm? That was intense.

I carry All day every day, it gets fired weekly, the only time it is inoperable and unloaded is when I'm cleaning it.

I've seen some shit in saginaw, heard stories from a friend that grew up on the east side Saginaw and have a few friends with stories from flint.

This world is full of sacks of shit like the one on the news.

Home defense:
Deadbolts on every door with big steel plates.
Window locks that work.
40lb collie lab mix, intact. He is extreemy territorial and his bark could wake the dead.
1911 and 380 + 2 mags.

If I had to pick one thing to remove from my list it would be the guns. Shit happens people be prepared.

My 1911 hasn't been more that 2' from my person in months

I'm not paranoid, I'm ready for the next shady fukc that pushes things too far.

IMHO, had the house been locked she would have had time to scat/call/arm. What a disturbing clip, I hope bubba has a biiiiiiigggggg dick when the he man woman beater gets to prison.

I took the wife and the daughter out again tonight in the front yard for live fire training.

We came home from going out to eat, we walked in the door, and I told the wife, grab the rifle I want you to go shoot the targets,
(we have two upper body cut outs from 3/4" plywood screwed to the trees on the side of the drive way) I have been forcing this on them about weekly for months now. I do not get much discussion any more and they are getting faster at it.
I do not believe they will ever become as adapted to firing as I am but I hope by sticking with the same weapon, I can get them used to quick grab, shoulder, safety off, acquire target, and fire.

She specifically said she tried to remain calm so she wouldn't upset her kids and have him go after them. I was impressed she had the presence of mind.
