Default Place to camp near Silver Lk. 4th of July weekend

OK, I'll throw this one out there...
Of corse we waited too long to get a camping spot for 4th weekend and everything is filled up. I'm looking for a place for my 24' (smaller) RV and Explorer on tow dolly. Must be kid friendly for my 8 and 12 yr old... wife and I are easy going. I would defiantly pitch in $ too.
Thanks!

You can try double Jj resort in new era. It is only like an exit or two south of silver lake. Plus lots of fun stuff for the kids.

You could try and reserve a spot now for next year.

Try this place...

http://johngurneypark.com/

It's on the other side of 31 in Hart, but it's a really nice and quiet park. We ended up staying there over the 4th a few years back after deciding to go at the last minute...it was one of the last places with spots open.

Have you called silver hills? They didn't fill up memorial so idk why the 4th would be much different. Any time I've been there on the 4th weekend it's the same if not less busy then memorial and Labor Day.

Just booked with Silver Hills... wife called days ago and were booked but called back and they had a cancelation.
Thanks for all the input.
Never been out for the 4th. They shoot off fireworks over the dunes? Sounds like a great time!

Silver hills is my favorite place. A little pricier and more strict on stuff, but a nice place IMO.

I've been camping there every memorial and Labor Day weekend since birth lol.
22 years straight!

yes they shoot fireworks off the dunes, over on the walking side is where they launch them ..your able to drive your off road trucks and park by exit hill and watch...great place to view or park anywhere along Silver lake and you still get a great view

Holidays are the worst possible time to go to silver lake. I have been up for the holidays before. 4th of July, labor day, and memorial day are so busy its not any fun. I hope you get up early to get vouchers or you can forget about getting into the dunes.

In the past I have let people from GL4x4 stay at the property which is about 12 min from the dunes. Too bad this site is so full of assholes it wrecks it for everyone.
