You could try google translate.

All I can tell you is it's a one million mark note from the Stuttgart Reichsbank. (state bank). Rest is a little blurry for me to make out, but probably more from my monitor and old ass eyes.

Check ebay, I saw a few on there for under 10$ but may have a good description.

In 1928 Germany was still recovering from a period of severe hyperinflation, one of the worst such periods in recorded history.

The bill the OP posted for 250,000 marks is from 1923, the worst of the worse. One U.S. dollar was worth approximately 4.2 trillion German Marks from the 1923 Weimar Republic era. At the depths of the hyperinflation in November of 1923, the 250,000 Marks would be worth about $0.0000000595238095 U.S. Eventually, at the end of 1923, the Germans introduced a new currency called the Rentenmark which cut the value of the previous Marks by a factor of 100, making existing notes essentially worthless.

I have no idea how much that thing would go for at a pawn shop, but considering that at one point there were something like a sextillion of them in circulation, I cannot imagine it would be much.

Still pretty cool though.

My Mother & Father lived thru the hyper inflation times.
Mom told me stories of picking up dad's pay 2x a day and running straight to the market to buy food before the $ became more worthless..

the note was issued Aug 13 and it states that it is valid and backed by the bank of Stuttgart until Sept 11 at 4 in the afternoon, At that time it would be re-rated in value at the then going rate of (exchange).........not exactly strong currency, huh?

I think it mayhave been an oversight by WSU.....but Eine Million Marc isn't 1/4 Million , it is One Million.
Not a perfect translation of the rest but pretty close.........I have a tough time with the type-style.
I'd be interested in that note as memory of something my family lived thru.

Pls PM any time with whatever $$ or trade you may want.
