Default taking my own boat to pictured rocks..questions?

Ok, so the family and I are going to check out the pictured rocks for the first time in August. Our base camp will be in Newberry and we will have 2 full days of boating. Not to sound like Mr. fancypants but I know about boating in the great lakes, so I know about weather and waves...... if it were you how would you attack it and where would you put in to take in the most over 2 days? Munising 1 day and further East the 2nd day?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks. Paul.

I would drop in at Munising, unless you have a good sized boat and can handle some weather, even then I wouldn't tempt ma nature and lake superior all that much.

What kind of boat (i.e. size, power, fuel capacity)?

The only real choices are Munising on the west and Grand Marais on the east - they're about 40 miles apart by water. No real options in between if the weather goes sour.

The real interesting rocks are closest to Munising, which is what I'd recommend - if your boat is up to it. If the weather is dodgy, there are some beaches and sand bars in the bay at Munising that can be fun.
