Did a little more work to the Jeep. Most of that work was damage So she flies great, but the landing, not so much.

So the lack of frame mounted bump stops and the leverage designed into the cross tube caused the failure when the Jeep bottomed out. Luckily the hood didn't unlatch, so the oil pan was saved.

Plan of action to fix it was to redesign the cross tube with mounts that are centered under it, rather than behind it, and add some gussets. I decided to build this out of 3/16" plate and square tube, just to give it a different look.

Probably won't run a hood for a little while. Also picked up a new muffler and some mandrel bends to build a new exhaust.

One day I'll get around to build the exhaust.

Thanks. Trying to do this on my phone.

Not the biggest jump ever, but it's not the first jump either. I think it may have been weakened from previous dunes trips.

Looks good! Is this removeable if the 4.0L needs to come out?

With a sawzall, yes The two bolt flanges on the other tube started pulling apart, so I decided to make this one solid.

Update: Alternator seized up from sitting outside without a hood.

Waiting to close on my new house, with a bigger garage before any real updates happen.

Little update. I ordered up a Dynomax 2.5" mandrel bent tail pipe. I was hoping it would get rid of the drone in the cabin. Also fixed the leak at the manifold.

Here's the Dynomax tailpipe I got:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wl...model/cherokee

It stuck out and down pretty far. The oval shaped tip would get caught on everything when backing up, so i trimmed it back and angled it away from the fuel tank.

Here's a quick video of the exhaust. Sounds a little deeper in person. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out, and I believe the drone is much more bearable.

Well I got sick of the damn side panels being all rusty. So I fixed them...

Before:

After:

Still have some bolts to add, broke the tap though. Jeep probably lost close to 50lbs by losing the steel.

Getting a little more work done. Started on the rear shocks finally. With the stock gas tank, and new tailpipe, I was pretty limited on space underneath. So I went through the fenderwell and tied into the cage.

Stretched it out to check for clearances, it just barely clears the tire. The tire might rub it slightly, but not enough to worry about.
