hp dana 60 locker

swapping in a ford hp dana 60 front into the rig wondering what lunch box lockers people are running and how they hold up. im torn between the spartan or lock rite but the spartan doesnt say if it will fit in the hp axle dont see why it wouldnt. just seeing what you guys think.

its the spline count that counts, not hp or lp. fronts ends are 35 spline and rear 60 are 30 spline.

The sparty fits hp d60. I don't know what differences there are between any of them.

Spartan here. I ran a lock right prior and wore the teeth out causing it to slip.

Since you had both in your hand, did you see anything in the spartan that you think will make it last longer?

From what I've seen of the Lock Right and EZ locker in other applications.. well, I couldn't see anything different. Not sure how the Sparty or Aussie stacks up other than their manufactuerererer saying theirs is better.

Aussie didn't make a D60 last I checked. I liked my Aussie in my D30, more than my D35 lockrite I had.

Yeah, I know different ones have different applications, but I don't remember much if any difference in D30 Lock Rights and EZ-lockers. Those were the only ones I had messed with before putting a sparty in a d60. The sparty was pretty much the same as the d30 lock right except bigger.

more importantly, did you actually modify a d35? ouch...

The biggest difference I noticed from having both was the pin design. I ran the lock right hard. V8 and 4ds. I also broke 3 stock stub shafts before getting 35 spline outers. I never broke the pins. Eventually the teeth wore down. I think I ran it 3 yrs. I even had the teeth edges recut and ran it a while longer before giving up on it. I didn't notice a difference in teeth.

The lock right pins are solid and the springs push against the pins. Spartan the pins are hollow and springs are inside the pins.

There is no difference between HP and LP carriers. The difference will be 4:10 down and 4:56 up carrier break. However since you are using your carrier that won't matter.

Rumor is the Spartan is a newer design and a bit better than the others. I had an EZ locker for years in a dana 30 and loved it.

Yep, just the lock-rite and it paid for the locker when I sold it

ya couple buddies of mine run lock rite but they pussy foot around i have a pretty heavy right foot. probably just gonna pull the trigger on the spartan locker see how she holds up.

I am running a Spartan in my HP60. I like the pin design and the access holes to hold the pins and springs in. its been in about 3 years now.
