Default Muriatic acid in gas tank

Had heard of it, guy at work told me to do it, never tried it. So i did a bunch of research. And decided to do it, thought it was a 5 gallon tank so put 3 gallons of 31% muriatic acid, and found out it is only 4 gallons, so I only added 1 gallon of water. Left it in for like 20 hours, dumped it, rinsed it, put some baking soda in it, then ran water through it for like 30 minutes. I didn't believe it would work this well.
I forgot to take a before pic, so here is a pic of something that was similar, maybe not even as bad as mine. The after pic is my tank.
Before

After

I just did this trick this weekend in a honda mini trail gas tank. Tank was similar to your before pics. Flushed with straight acid (user friendly stuff) 3 times, then diluted with water for last flush. Stuff works like magic, just smells funny.

I have heard of this, but couldn't find any good before/after pics to see how well it worked. I liked the idea since it is less harsh, and less likely to eat through the tank.

I've read some people recoat it, and others that just leave it, and make sure the tank is kept full when stored. I'm going for the just keep fuel in it.
