Default Apparently a sellers market??

So I am trying to find a Jeep to wheel, Cherokee or Wrangler, not real picky, but want to be smart...
I see an ad on C list, Cherokee, looks decent, good price. I start asking questions about rust (ad says minor amounts). Guy eventually says there is some on the frame below drivers door. I ask is it a hole, he says yes, I say how big, he replies with, "Dude, nevermind I'll just sell it to someone else." I reply with, "Okay, sorry a potential buyer wants to know as much as he can before he would make a trip to see it."
He did reply with he wasn't trying to be a dick...

The guy sounds like a douche. Evidently he's too busy to answer his own ad. I don't know what's wrong with people. I had about the same situation a few months ago tire shopping. The guy got pissy when I was asking about cupping/checking/gouges etc. But it is craigslist.

He wasn't trying to be a dick but he realized you weren't a typical craigslist moron. Offer him $200 bucks, he'll take it.

I miss the days of classified ad's where people actually went and looked at what is for sale.

I always love the look on a craigslist sellers face when I tell them I don't want the item, it's like they think that because I show up I've already purchased the damn thing and they just want to do a quick exchange.

No kidding. If he comes back with 1" will you buy but 1.5" you'll walk? Someone's a douche here, but I'm not sure it's the seller.

Well a pin hole vrs a 4" hole would be a big deal. Maybe your used to huge holes being your old lady has been around. Some people still like them tight and small.

Don't get to butt hurt I am having fun with you.

If I find out its large enough I'm not gonna make the two hour trip since it took him about five texts to divulge it. Rust isn't the issue, but knowing as much as possible before making a trip only makes sense. If I'm a douche, least I'm not four hours of drive time, the gas, etc.

The internet is making our world smaller and smaller. Many sellers simply do not realize that a potential buyer is 4,5, hours travel time away.........
and like you say, as buyers , we want as much info as possible before we buy that much fuel and spend that much time.
I mean, how hard is it to take a foto and email it to someone?

I just saw a seller bitching on another forum about how a potential buyer came out to look at his C-10 for sale and had the gall to pull the dipstick out.....

Sounds familiar. I was looking at a small beater car to slowly destroy driving it back and forth to my shop each day. I saw a Metro 4dr sedan at a little rat hole dealership right here in Bay City. The little turd drove nice but mystery smoke was coming from the engine and it smoked on startup for quite a while as the tooth challenged sales guy explained that the smoke goes away after a few minutes of running. So I'm interested in the beater that they want $1700 for but I ask if I can get a pre-buy inspection of if they could put it up on the hoist to let me see what it looks like underneath. After it was up in the air, the only things I found wrong were a bad ball joint, the head gasket leaking oil onto the exhaust, and holes in the front subframe/lower control arm supports large enough to put my fist though (Literally, I demonstrated to the "mechanic" I that could.). Talk about a group of guys getting sour in the shop quick! One guy asked if I thought I was a mechanic because I was pointing out all the bad things on the car (Like potentially life threatening structural failure.). I told the guy I read a book on car repair once. Needless to say I walked but the car is still sitting on the lot for sale without being repaired. The car is going to kill somebody, I'm sure.
