Holy shat- what a day! It took about 10 hours, but the bottom end is assembled and ready for the heads.
Here's a few poser shots.

Not that bad. No different than my shop. It usually looks like a bomb went off in there.

meh- sort of... I made a major mistake over the weekend. Right after I took that pic Saturday night of the bottom end, I found TDC on #1 and tossed the timing chain on before I left (10 PM at night after being up for 18 hours). Yesterday we assembled 1 head and went over to the shop to set it on and start checking vaivetrain geometry. The exhaust valve kissed the piston when we rolled it over by hand.

Anny guesses as to what the problem was?

(hint: I grew up building chebbys......)

Its OK, when I went to fire the buggy it wouldn't start. So the chase down began thinking I wired something wrong or missed something. After an hr I figured out it wasnt getting fuel even though the pumpwas running. I had the feed and return lines at the sending unit backwards .

lol_ I guess we all have those moments from time to time....

Anyone on the west side (preferably Holland/Zeeland area) have any used chebby intake valves sitting around their garage? I only need 4. Something with the 2 keeper slots and at least 1.80 wide.

Thanks!
