Default Towing heavy SRW vs DRW

I am looking to buy a new to me truck (probably around a 2005 crew cab diesel) later this year. My truck is mostly used to haul trailers etc... I also haul some pretty heavy stuff fairly often. More than likely I should be buying a dually, but really do not like them very much.....

Just wondering if anyone here uses a heavy duty tire, or what is available so I could get away without a DRW. Short of going semi tires, is there a tire more heavy duty than just load range E? Also wondered, what going to a larger rim vs 16 like most <5 year old trucks have would do?

Thanks

I have seen a few trucks running 19.5 and 22.5 wheels and tires (G-124's I think). I dont think they used them for the weight capacity, rather more for the longer lasting tread and smooth(er) ride while hauling heavy.

if you shop around you can find some g rated tires. usually commercial type stuff. very few sizes available, very pricey. the stability of a dually on good e range stuff is the best bet for towing heavy. i have been over 18k on my 3/4 ton, its doable, but not a great idea.
