Default sas s10 steering help

on my sas s10 blazer im running the astro box with a drop pitman arm. currently running a 44 front but turns like a school bus. im running skys high steer arm and drag link is about flat. going to swap in a 60 here in a few weeks wondering if anyone has swapped in a 79 ford f250 or f150 steering boxes i have a few laying around. would like to be able to turn the thing to the stops on the axles. any ideas or suggestions besides going full hydro?

pics would help, any idea what your running for caster?is the box and pump in good shape?

You will want to use the f150/Bronco gearbox since those were designed specifically for crossover steering instead of push-pull like the 250/350 boxes. The 150 box mounts outside the frame and has a longer sector shaft as well.

The 250/350 box can be used, but it has to mount inside the frame rail and the pitman arm will need to point to the rear of the truck. This box creates some "issues" because of how it functions and mounts. Since it is inside the frame you will need to make room to for it in an already cramped area. The steering shaft from the column will also be much tighter to the engine, which usually causes major issues especially with headers. You will also need to move the box farther forward on the frame to compensate for the pitman arm pointing rearward(with the arm forward the direction is 180 - turn steering wheel right, tires go left).

ya i was leaning toward the f150 box because the forward position. gonna have to drum up a way to mount it and some steering u joints to mate it to the factory column. the pump and box are fine im running about 4 degree of caster the box just doesn't have enough throw in it. unless theres some way i can tear into the steering box and knock out the stops. looks like im going to just have to start tearing stuff apart and do some work.

what application is your pitman arm for ?? I swapped the s10 one for a wagoneer arm and got a few more degrees of steer

CJ pitman arms are too short. try a waggy pitman arm. I swaped a waggy arm on cj box to get better turning radius after swapinf in a 44 front.
