Well pulled old shaft and got new made.

Old shaft pretty bent, that sleeve you see covers a seam where the small diameter pipes were touching end to end, welded then sleeve slid over the weld, and again welded.

Here is the new 2" 1/4" wall one piece. ..fingers crossed that makes a difference.

Ready to do some wheeling!
Saturday cant come soon enough.

Hit rocks n valleys this weekend had a blast! Let the wife drive the jeep for the first time in yeaarrs. Now im gunna have to build something else..I think shes addicted. .Hahaha.
Thanks for showing us a good time CTOR.
While there I noticed it may be time for a pinion guard for the rear....dont know if the bolts will ever come out of the rear yoke..lol

So this is what I ordered this morning.

Looking into new seats and harnesses. .any advise? Probably only want 4pt harnesses, and I want a flat bucket seat, no lean, if possible.

For the sake of your spine, make sure it's a suspension seat. The rest is just what you're comfortable in.

So..got my aluminum for the tie rod today. And my pinion guard. .Whoot!

Probably get the pinion guard on tomorrow, thanks to a few friendly fellas, maybe the tie rod next week. Depends on their schedules.

Quick question. In harnesses, which Is better. ..cam lock or latch. Haven't dealt alot with them to know which one is better or more comfortable?

After using both in other peoples rigs, I thought the cam lock was easier to use. But they can also get packed with mud and not work right. The latch style are fail safe, but imo, a pain to use. With that being said, I got a good deal on latch style and that's what I'm gonna run.

Well finally got halfway caught up tonight. Had a chance to tinker on my own rig. Awesome!
Got the new 7075 aluminum tie rod back from the neighbor. Looks and feels tough! Hope it holds up better than the 3 or 4 dom ones ive been thru.

Here is old vs new

Here is new installed. ..nice!

Had some drop so I got some tough new shifter knobs for the twin stick..

Also while installing my pinion guard the other day I noticed that my traction bar was brokeded...so I fixeded it tunite..
Here is the heim separated

Here is my fix, it aint gotta be a heim..

Piece of 3/8 wall dom ought a do the trick eh..
Still no sign of my new harnesses. .. hopefully some day this week.

Next is harnesses, then motor possibly. .whoot got a line on a 6.0 again. It wont go in until this winter though.

good job on the latch style belts. I hate the cam locks. if you haven't yet also look into getting pads for the shoulder harnesses. your shoulders will thank you after a long weekend of wheeling

Is there a reason you didn't go full high steer to keep the tie rod up farther from harm?

I will look into the pads chevotass, thanks for the warning.

As far as the high steer, if I had full hydro i would definitely go high steer. The issue is my pitman arm to tie rod clearance. Currently only 4.5-5" I have 4" up travel. ..so full high steer would cause interference...at the moment.
I may take a closer look to see what I can do there though. I feel like I should b abe to do high steer.

Thanks Kyle,

I see that now
Depends on how far apart the holes for the drag link and tie rod are on the arm
Plus you linked so I wouldn't think your axle moves forward and back as muck when it flexes to make the two hit
My tre on my drag link just barely touches my tie rod when it flexes but that's just because the axle moves forward with the leaf springs

Yep....definitely a good call on the latch style....i have one of each, the drivers side has the cam and i have issues with hitting the release with my hand/arm while driving which causes it to release....not good......i need to get a new latch style.

Rig looks good

Thanks guys. .got my harnesses today, wont have time to install em till Friday. ..

Thinking if I do full high steer, I may end up doing full hydro so I can get full potential of my 4 linked front. .steering is what is currently limiting my travel in the front. ..to an extent.
