Izzy has growled at me several times. I demand you take out an insurance policy in case she bites me or else I'm calling up the Washington TWP. authorities.

If you drive drunk all the time and smash into other peoples cars and injure them, you are forced to pay a higher insurance premium.

If you have a dog that you can't train and the dog goes around biting people, you should be forced to pay an insurance premium to cover the injuries to others.

Ummm no.

If you drive drunk and you smash into people and injure them you go to jail, you LOSE your driving priviledges and you pay higher premiums to drive when you can earn your drivers license back. Nowhere in the laws does it say you only have to buy insurance after you've driven drunk and killed someone, you know for next time.....

If you have a dog that you can not train and the dog bites someone it is put down, you can be sued.

Now instead my dog can bite you but since i have insurance its ok the insurance will cover it, and I can keep my dog and let him bite more people again later?

Am I reading this wrong?

Quote:
Officials say a dog is deemed dangerous if it bites or attacks a person, or causes serious injury to another domestic animal. Exceptions include dogs protecting an owner or a homeowner’s property.
So a dog is only deemed dangerous AFTER it has bit a person or attacked them? So you are only required to buy the insurance AFTER your dog has already done damages?

Why not just enforce the idea that if your dog DOES do damage that he is put down and you are no longer allowed to own a dog in the city since YOU have proven to be a bad dog owner?

What good does forcing someone to buy insurance on a dog after he has done something? This is idiotic at best.

Gotta look in the fine print. I think our current and previous policies have specific exemptions for certain breeds (there were 4 breeds but I forget. ). If you have those ones, you need to inform them and it affects the rates.

And, its one thing if its at your house, but what if your dog gets loose, or is out on a walk. Homeowners isn't going to cover the actions of a dog in the park, is it?

As for them doing it, so what. It doesn't seem unreasonable, only affects a few people. If you don't like it, don't live there. All of those cities have tons of restrictions, thats what makes them the places they are, and thats why a certain type of people live there, and, what a certain type of people don't live there.

A lot of "attacks" go down that way and are not deemed that way at all. Mainly because the individual approaching had good intentions but lacked the ability to think.

My dogs have only bit one person and it was because they were breaking in to my house. Most of the time they just give kisses and licks.

I already have pitbull insurance just in case though

I tried to pass a similar law in Detroit. Unfortunately it ruined the viability of the underground dog fighting business in the city.

The only thing you've ever exposed was your "childhood" to a bunch of school aged children.
