Default General Grabber AT2

I have the chance to get a good deal on some 33 inch general grabber AT2's. Anyone run these at all? I've never ran generals before, so I can't even speak for their other tire lines. Are these comparable to BFG AT's at all?

I had the Grabber AT2's on my JK and I liked them a lot. They did pretty well offroad and were a good ride on road. I swapped them out for a set of 37" Falken Wild Peaks. I liked the offroad of the Grabbers a lot more.

Were the falkens better or worse on road than the generals?

Its hard to say because I went from 33" Grabbers to 37" Falkens. I'd say the road manners were similar if you take the size difference out.

Im running a set of the 265/75-17 General AT2's right now and have run a few sets of BFG AT's in the past....unfortunately not all on the same vehicle when it comes to comparisons, but I can tell you I like the Generals slightly better than the BFG's. I bought a second set for our tahoe...of which got totalled by a drunk soon after I installed them. (Kept them for our truck though!)

Lower price
Slightly better traction in the snow
Similar if not better road manners
Similar if not better off-road

The only possible downfall may be tread life compared to the BFG. I think they may wear a little faster, but I am running them on a Dodge 2500 4x4 where the BFG's were on XJ's and an SJ. Therefore, a much heavier vehicle, and due to a dealer screw up, I am running a normal load range vs. an E range...not sure if the tread compound is different on a load range E or not. In addition, our truck is used in our surveying business, so it sees a lot of stop, go and u-turns...expect to get about 40,000 out of them. I would expect better out of a normally driven lighter weight vehicle and plan to put a set on our XJ by next winter.

These would be a 33 inch tire for my pickup. I currently have a very close to bald set of bfg rugged trails on it right now. I've heard good about the bfgs, but I think I'll put the grabbers on it instead. Tire prices for an 18 inch rim are very upsetting

Gf's dad has then on his 2500 dodge and they suck so pulling a trailer even since new the truck was all over the road the day the tires were bought, they wear out fast also, I would not buy a set

Dont buy the Falkens - I've seen soooooo many sets of them come through (i work at Discount). I can tell you that they look great and do great until they start to wear down.. once they get to about 10/32s all of the sipes in the tires are gone. Can't put any input on how they run I can tell you that the Generals are going to be a much better choice. If you can swing it, id definitely take a look at the Goodyear Duratracs - had them on my Jeep and they were GREAT offroad especially in sand. They handle very well and quite on the road also.

I was really close to buying a set of duratracs. I've sold quite a few sets of duratracs (I work at a tire place also) and our customers that have them like them very much. Even at my cost, the tire prices have caused me to look for a decent substitute. We don't carry generals, but I can get them for a good deal from a neighboring dealership. Just pulled the plug and bought the generals, I'm waiting for them to arrive so I can "inspect" them.
