Need to fondest shocks on my stretched yj. What angle should I have the shock ?

haha fawk! I was on my phone at work ha ha ha......

I have a YJ that is SOA. Rear is stretched 6". I'm going to be running 14" travel bilstein 7100 shocks so I need to notch the frame and outboard the shock towers using the f250 style. I figure you do not want them straight up and down as when the leafs cycle, they swing back. So i would imagine you want to put a positive angle on them, so when they compress they become more straight.

I'm running mine how the raptor shocks mount? (I has raptor shocks) it's on a k5 but leafs springs are leaf springs.

Also, are those rock/debri/shit guards for the shafts? I like

I just stared at a fox raptor and did my best to keep it close lol.

I remember seeing a cool write up long ago to figure the best, but here's a text version

Extend shock fully and swing it in an arc fore and aft while marking a piece of cardboard with a sharpie through the upper loop.
Bottom rear end out metal to metal, bottom shock out and swing fore and aft with sharpie through upper loop on cardboard.
Where those two arcs cross on the cardboard is the optimized location for the given shock, lower mount location and vehicle.
Move inward 3-5 degrees and call it a day. Sometimes the vehicle doesnt allow this due to frame rails or other restrictions but from scratch, no obstructions thats the way to do it.

^This assuming you don't have any revolver shackles or anything that could give you a goofy ass cycling pattern.

The 90s called and they want their revolver shackles back.

One thing the shortened write up doesn't mention is that to do it properly you should replace all secondary leaves with a spacer of equal thickness. That way you only have to compress the main leaf, and not your full spring pack.
