aerodynamics. its kinda along the lines of if you blow over the top of a piece of paper it wants to life. with velocity over a curved surface it lowers pressure and the high pressure wants to seek the low pressure. it also has to deal slightly with drag over the surface of the handle. regardless, its all about how the air is flowing over the handle.
