We have several here at work. Along with 3D LASER scanners. You put something in the scanner, and then make SLA replicas. Pretty cool. No, you can't use them.

I find it funny that the government's concern is that criminals could be printing guns in their basement. Or that's at least their cover story for the real reason.

Right....criminals are going to spend thousands of dollars on a 3D printer for guns when they can go buy untraceable black market guns for a couple hundred bucks.

So you go straight to penis eh?

My first thought was getting some hot summer intern(female unlike the Mule is thinking) drunk and talking her into laying down in the 3D scanner...

umm, no.

However a guy who is not a good person will buy a printer, make 100's of these guns and sell them for 1/2 the price as a black market gun.

If criminals moved into using cheap, bulky and awkward single shot .22 Short pistols instead of a stolen Glock 23 I don't think it would necessarily be a bad thing.

It would be nice if criminals went to prison for decades for using ANY firearm in a crime though instead of the current system.

That article makes me laugh.

Apparently they don't know what a milling maching is, or that you can go buy 80% completed receivers or stamped reciever flats that are sold as a hunk of metal that you can finish and turn into a rifle in your garage.

Something makes me think that could be one of their concerns...

This is what I don't get. I don't see how people can't grasp that concept.

Yes. Every once in a blue moon a guy who legally owns firearms goes off his nut and kills people. But every single day, many times a day, criminals get weapons illegally and commit crimes with them.

How in the fukc did we get to this point where we focus in on the 1:1,000,000 scenario and completely ignore the 999,999:1,000,000 ones?

They use a steel nail as a firing pin. The creators have already made the point that they WILL set off metal detectors.

The gun might make it through the metal detector. I haven't seen anybody making plastic ammo yet though.

Sorry, but that still does not make it legal. By law you must have 6 ounces of metal in a firearm.

I didn't say anything about the legality of it. Someone asked about it being able to get by a metal detector.

I personally think these guns are retarded.

Ammunition would still set it off.

The company that created The Liberator included a chunk of non-functioning steel in the gun to be legit.
