What's most cool about Detroit are the people trying to make a positive difference down there and pouring their hearts into small unique businesses and community efforts. I don't know anyone in the x-game bid video but I'm sure they are all local and I think it's pretty kick ass what they put together. There are a few diamonds in the rough with Detroit I can't help but root for them.

unfortunately those diamonds are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY small and the rough around them doesn't want them in their city.

That's why I root for them and support them as much as I can. Nothing stops a a passionate person from achieving their dreams. And if you look there actually are a lot of things going on, maybe that is because I go down there and participate in some of it so I see some of it from the inside out.

Nothing will change about the city if everyone just cries about how much they hate the place and totally avoid going there

I always roll my eyes when I see a bicyclist in full gear from helmet to biker shorts riding solo through the ghettos of detroit.
Haven't figured out yet if they are lost, brave, or just stupid.

x2.

There are a lot of awesome places in Detroit. Unfortunately they are mixed in with the crap, but as often as I'm down there I do believe I'm starting to see somewhat of a turnaround.

I know a lot of businesses that are moving their offices down there, and friends who are moving downtown because they have now gotten jobs at those offices.

If Detroit does have it's revival, it can only be a good thing for the entire state.

Back to Detroit bashing....

That's different, I like the destination just not the hour+ one way drive.

It's no different really, I don't like the destination enough to make the 1 hour + drive.

Detroit has nothing to offer to ME that is worth driving an hour to get to outside of a red wings game or a tigers game. Everything else detroit has to offer I can find closer to home.

I realize you are trying to be funny, but, that wasn't really all that funny.

Since it wasn't funny, I will point out to you that I said, Detroit doesn't have anything to offer me outside of a tigers or wings game that is of any interest to me that I can not find closer to home.

But everyone loves bums playing saxophones, even if they admit it or not.

For the life of me I don't understand why anybody thinks anything in that shithole is worth saving, like kickstand said with the exception of the major stadiums, better/nicer things can be found outside of the outhouse called detroit
