Maybe May 18th should be a local competition somewhere.

I went to Motor City Machines during the week and got the brackets cut. Upper just needs plate on back and it will be done.

JeepM715 stopped by and he welded the bridge to cast and we started on the front truss.

can you still pull the carrier, or are you adding disconnects?

We tested it and can pull the carrier, so no disconnects. We had figured on needing disconnects, so pretty happy it worked out. We do need to mount a piece from the bar to the diff cover to span the section in front of the diff. We are thinking that piece will bolt on to the diff cover rather than hard mounting to it to make it easier to install & remove the cover.

We made the front brace stick out far enough that it also should provide some protection to our tie rod. Our tie rod took a beating on the rocks out in Johnson Valley, and we figured it would only be worse in a race situation.

Hopefully this hold up. Lots more metal stacked on this thing than the last one.

Say you did need disconnects, did you have anything particular in mind? I've got that problem now and tossing ideas around.

No good ideas. The hope was to not need them.

We have used the Ruff Stuff tube couplers in the past, but were concerned with how they would do on a piece like this that will be rammed and scraped on rocks. Also, they have to be aligned nearly perfectly to get them together, so if something bent it would be a bear to reinstall them.

We had talked about a flanged setup of some sort. But never had to get that far.
