Use the 1354 case and just pop the motor off the side and fab up a shifter for it then u wont spend days figuring out the electrical part of it. Im not a big fan of the electronic tcase shift motors anyways ive changed way to many of them.

I got one I got off of Kyle a while back. It's 1350m/1354m, can't wait to finish my ranger so I can finally get to use it.

Ok a 1354 it is. I kept every bit of wiring for the t-case from my B2 so I should be able to make it work pretty easy.Strangely I kinda enjoy a good wiring project.


So if I take the doubler apart I can just swap out the 4 pinion for a 6 pinion out of one of my other 1354's? Its that simple?

The occasional wiring project can be fun but mostly i stay away from wiring and go with the simple mechanical way to make things work.

Damn....I built mine for next to nothing yes ago. Got some help from a buddy and we built a sweet intermediate shaft. The shaft is the key. Outside if that its easy shit.

No I found a DD Machine kit already installed in a box,tig welded up and built by a off road shop. Never installed in a truck. 600.00

So are the RCVs the way to go or would Chromos with good joints be fine for me?

Never going bigger than 37's.
About 250hp now,might go up to 400hp if I find a Kenne Bell.
Only 3.50 gears,but will have a doubler.

When you say good joints... CTM's? Wadey broke a bunch of chromo stuff with his blazer which is heavier and more gear but less power. I don't think he had the really good joints though. I'd say 6 of 1, half dozen of another if you are talking good chromos and joints.

Instead of spending all that money on shafts, sell your half tons, buy a 60/14 bolt and be done with it. You will be money ahead.

Or do a 9" and retro fit the front 60 to a 5.5 on 5 pattern.

This makes all the sense in tue world. Wish I would have done that. I spent tons of money on mine, hd ball joints, shafts, joints, and in the end. It was knuckles, axle shafts, and cross shafts that made my final decision.

Id do tons and be done with it, if I had to do it all over again.

Im to deep into this truck to switch axles now. Plan is to keep it light duty as I dont think I wheel as hard as you guys anyways. This truck is gona be doing daily driving time split with my turbo Ranger so it will see way more street miles than trail miles.My old Bronco2 with a 5.0 and 35's seen about 30,000 miles over the 3 years I had it.

Gota stick with what I have now if I want to do any wheeling this year.

Don't spend the money on rcvs then. I'd just put a new spicer joint in your stock shafts, tack the caps and run those.

Update for new parts.

Been on a mad spending spree lately between both trucks but here is the new toys for the truggy.

Got my D&D doubler. Going to replace the stock 4 pinion planetary with a 6 pinion

I also picked up my disc brake brackets,a 9in axle brace,bought a DTS 31spline spool and a 9in pinion guard.

And picked up some Explorer manifolds that will take care of my steering shaft issues. My BBK headers were in the way of the steering shaft so these manifolds will give me all the room I need now.


So as soon as Im done with the turbo swap on the other truck I will be jumpin in with both feet to get the truggy done.

I know these aint the best header for the motor but with the tubes beat up on my BBK's from hammering em flat to try and get steering shaft past them these will be a upgrade for sure.
