Default Low and Slow, DD/Weekend Warrior YJ

This is my Third Jeep, I've had a 89 YJ, had and still have a 47 CJ2a mild crawler and now this Jeep. It's an 93 YJ that I picked up for $1000 from a guy in South lion, he bought the Jeep new back in 94 and DD it until 2000. After that the jeep went to the High school auto shop class with his son and it was there class project. The instructor must not have known SHIT because there were so many things done wrong and poorly on this rig that it looked like a 10 year old had been wrenching on it! I've had the jeep for almost a year now, bought it on May 7th of last year so this thread is a little late and I've done a TON to it so far, so I'll just be getting caught up here.

I'll list the specs of it when I bought it and how it sits now.
60K 4.0HO from a 96 ZJ
Rebuilt 32RH zero miles
NP231
RC 4" lift
3" BL
Open 3.07 D30/35
Missmatched rollers

Now as of 4/20/13:
66K ZJ 4.0HO
32RH 3 speed with aftermarket trans cooler
NP231, Rebuilt, SYE, Tom Woods CV drive shaft
Custom fab tummy tuck skid plate (19.5" to bottom of the skid)
OME 36R leafs, 1/2" boom shackles, shitty RC shocks, 2" rear stretch. (3" total lift apossed to the 7" it came with and 96" WB)
29 spline C8.25 from a 98 XJ, Disk brakes, Detroit locker, 4.56 gears
open HP30
35" KM2
summit soft 8s
Custom fab front bumper/winch plate
XRC8 winch
Rampage half can soft top
Lots of body trimming

Here's a shot of when I first got it

Truck load full of parts, twas a true Bascket case!

3" BL and TC drop. Real classy.

Took a long time to get the OBD2 motor and wiring converted to the YJ system but after 2 months of searching for the right wiring harness the motor was ready to go in for the third and final time!

Just about ready to start!

First time out of the garage and driving in 10 years, 7" of lift and 31s at that! Lol

I found a good deal on some old school MT/R's 33/12.5/15 for like 100 bucks or something. Got those mounted up and took it on its first road trip, 600 mile round trip and it had only been driving for 2 days prior to that.

Did some light wheeling in the Traverse city area

Took this about a mile down the road from my house, probably one of my favorite pics.

Built a winch plate bumper and got my winch mounted.

And did some more wheeling on our proporty in TC.

This is where I figured out my frame was rotting out and would eventually need replaced.

Did some more wheeling

At this point I was driving on a D35 with stripped spider gears and it was really starting to go, so I swapped in a 29 spline c8.25 I had sitting in my yard which only had like 80K on it.

Also installed a SYE and TW shaft at the same time

At this point I was still riding on the PO installed RC 4" springs. They road like shit and were sagging badly. I got some OME 2.5" springs and am very impressed with them. I plan on XJ spring stretch in the future so these are great for now.

Where about in Traverse City do you go wheeling? Let me know the next time you go. I should have my jeep running soon.

A lot of these pics are on my property out on the Williamsburg/kalaska side of TC but I go wheeling out off 72 in between Acme and kalaska and supply Rd a lot, tons of good trails out there. Twisted trails is always a good time and I go there quite a bit.

The next time I'm going wheeling is the jeep blessing...

Back in January I was still running 4" of lift and 33s. I needed new tires so I got a good deal on some 35" KM2's from discount tire. I also dropped the jeep another inch.

Took it out to test the new tires and end up on this.

Little while after that I built a tummy tuck skid.

For some reason I painted it green??? 20.5" to the frame rails, 19.5 to the bottom of the skid with only 3" of lift and little 35s not to shabby.

Swapped in yet a other 29 spline c8.25. This time with a Detroit, disk brakes and 4.56 gears.

Picked up a frame from southern CA, perfect condition, literally looks like new inside and out.

More wheeling from the other weekend.

And the most recent pic of it. 2" rear stretch and lots of fender trimming getting ready for new paint.

Caught up now, in May I will be swapping the frame and repainting it Gun metal.

Looks great man! What rear springs did you end up with for the 2" stretch, stock XJs?

They are just OME 2.5" YJ springs. I got the stretch from offset spring perches...
