Default Where is best place to get Allison Built

I am adding a tuner to my Duramax and need to get the transmission built to handle the extra horsepower. I have considered trying it myself with a Suncoast or PPE kit but would prefer to have a professional do it if the cost is not too unreasonable. Anyone know of a good place to get a transmission built in Mid Michigan?

From what I've heard Dirty Hooker in the thumb does great work.

Im not sure if he does Allisons but If I was building a trans for any diesel I would try to get Dusty Hawk at HTS to build it. He loves the mopars and is "THE MAN" around here when it comes to fast cummins.

You can find his website or call him at 877-630-9122

it's worth the trip imo (they've done 2 for me), but maybe try Fleece Performance, ask for Brayden. good friend and really knows his duramax/allison stuff.

they have tuned 2 trucks for me so far.

For an allison to get built in MI you have two choices. Merchant automotive in Zeeland or Allseason performance (Tony Burkhart) in bay city. Both have been doing this since the allison came out and many people have traveled from out of state/country to have them built there trucks/transmissions.

Anyone have any experience with http://www.bullittransmissions./? They are the only one that anyone has mentioned that I contacted who quoted less than $2000 in labor. I may just have to do it myself. It has been a long time since I rebuilt a transmission but an Allison shouldn't be any harder than the older transmissions?

Merchant does top notch work.

Burkhardt's shop (All Season Diesel Performance) is in Port Hope MI, not Bay City. He's real reputable in my area, I know of several guys that have used him and are happy.
