Default 96 ZJ Grand Cherokee Transmission Issue

I was accelerating on the entrance ramp to the highway. I had my music up but not sure if I heard something coming from the car or not. But all of the sudden the Jeep was still cruising down but felt like it was in neutral. It would rev but wouldn't drive. Had it towed back to my house and just figuring my options out now.

It has about 200k miles. I didn't notice any leaks or anything aside from some minor coolant leaking.

So my current options are to swap the transmission, rebuilt it, or just not deal with the Jeep. $1500 for the rebuild or a swap. Or just buy a brand new car.

I've been told it could be my shifter link, valve body, or my torque converter.

Has this happened to anyone else before? How much could I sell the Jeep in its current state? Thanks

It sounds like you need a trans. Find a used one and put it in yourself.

x2 Whatever it is sounds internal. You can check your trans fluid, maybe its way too low, either way I would start looking for another to swap out sooner or later
